The Intake Coordinators assist in carrying out the mission of The Council by providing high quality support, information, and referrals to those struggling with substance use, as well as those in their lives or in the community who are trying to support them. He/She is responsible for screening and triaging clients who present to The Council, by phone, email or in person, seeking services. Intake Coordinators are charged with getting individuals connected to the right services, within The Council or in the community, as seamlessly as possible, which could include case management, crisis intervention, marketing and substance use education.
Requirements
Answer all calls and greet all clients professionally and with dignity and respect
Provide the following services to each client presenting by phone or in person
Assess and evaluate requests for help
Provide supportive advocacy and peer support
Crisis intervention as needed
Offer information and appropriate referrals, using warm handoffs when possible
Assist with safety planning and brainstorming available options
Educate potential clients about substance use and related issues as appropriate for their situation
For clients being connected to Council services: scheduling, clarify fee structure, conducting intake/orientation sessions
Is knowledgeable about The Council on Recovery services and activities, as well as other local and/or national community level treatment providers, substance abuse service agencies, and support groups

Qualifications
Master’s Degree in social work, psychology, counseling or related field preferred;
Bachelor’s Degree required
Relevant Licensure a plus
Bilingual preferred
Experience with substance abuse evaluation, counseling and case management
Understanding of ASAM and DSM 5 diagnostic criteria for substance use disorder and mental health disorders
Working knowledge of community resources and experience in developing relationships
Excellent “people” skills, i.e. has the ability to respond empathetically and with unconditional positive regard
Ability and capability to work in a fast-paced environment
Good organizational skills
Demonstrated experience working independently and in a team environment
Computer skills--Microsoft Word and Excel preferred
Related call-center experience a plus
