Clinical Informaticist (Pharmacist or RN)

This BCH Clinical Informaticst will collaborate closely with the Children’s Hospital (BCH) Pharmacy and the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute (DFCI) Pharmacy, Nursing and Information Technology Departments, medical departments, as well as clinical trials disease-based study teams on the process of standardization and prioritization of order set build. Familiarity with clinical practice, informatics, and systems design are key skills for this role.

The Clinical Informaticist Will Be Responsible For

  • Managing the prioritization, development, standardization, and validation of all computerized order entry content for clinical trials and for standard of care treatments.
  • Extracting required components from a clinical trial or standard of care treatment to develop a comprehensive profile of orders for investigators/physicians/providers that include treatment parameters, monitoring/patient care, and medication orders.
  • Understanding protocols and interpreting them into design for EHR order sets, treatment and therapy plans primarily for oncology and associated therapies.
  • Upskilling end users to understand clinical and business workflows and system administration.
  • Working collaboratively with interdisciplinary clinical stakeholders including prescribers, nurses, pharmacists, and others as warranted throughout the design and validation process with a focus on protocol execution, compliance, and medication safety.

To Qualify, You Must Have

  • Bachelor of Pharmacy, or Bachelor of Science in nursing degree. Bachelor of Pharmacy highly preferred.
  • Current MA Pharmacist or nursing licensure
  • Clinician (Pharmacist or RN) with 3- 5 years’ experience in inpatient-based patient care. Pediatric patient care experience highly preferred.
  • Experience working with various information technology business applications or other health information system/applications.
  • Familiar with healthcare computer software preferred (Epic Beacon/Willow, Alaris, Pyxis, DoseEdge, etc.).
  • Experience evaluating chemotherapy design protocols highly preferred
