The Summit Center - 2023 and 2024 School of Excellence, as named by the National Association of Special Education Teachers (NASET)
The Clinical Coordinator of Speech and Language will oversee all day to day functions for the Summit Academy speech department program. The Clinical Coordinator will coordinate, provide and assign CFY supervision, to adhere to the NYSEd regulations and ensure all speech mandates are being met. In collaboration with the Principal, the Coordinator will assist to assure fiscal accountability, compliance with laws and regulations, as well as maintain community relations and other duties, as necessary, to ensure the successful functioning of the speech department. In addition, the Clinical Coordinator of Speech and Language will collaborate with the Educational Coordinator of Speech and Language and the Senior Curriculum and Instruction Coordinator in the area of curriculum and instruction.
Responsible for the hiring of new staff, and assisting in the supervision and training of new staff in Summit Academy
Oversee daily operations for speech department
Coordinate supervision of Teachers of Students with Speech and Language Disabilities (TSSLD and TSHH), and those in Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY)
Maintain the rights of individual children being served
Part of admissions team
Responsible for the development and maintenance of university affiliations
Assist with fiscal accountability within the department, in coordination with the Principal
Monitor educational activities for program
Participate as a member of the leadership team
Promote good public relations

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Masters Degree in Communication Disorders and/or Sciences or Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited college or university; Minimum of 3 years direct clinical or educational experience with children or adults with developmental disabilities preferably in an educational setting and minimum of 1 year of supervisory experience.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS Etc.: Must have a NYS Speech Language Pathology License, Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) and a member in good standing of the American Speech and Hearing Association (ASHA). NYS Certified Teacher of the Speech and Hearing Handicapped (TSHH) or NYS Certified Speech and Language Disabilities (TSSLD).
