Civil Engineer

The role:

The Civil & Structural Engineer will be responsible for performing civil and structural design calculations, preparing calculation packages, and details, coordinating with a team of designers and drafters, and reporting to the lead engineer. The role may also involve field work, conceptual studies, checking construction drawings, and preparing project specifications and material requisitions.

Position Duties/Responsibilities:

• Assist the lead engineer in project execution.
• Conduct conceptual studies, cost and planning analyses, layouts, design calculations, specification development, and prepare construction documents.
• Provide basic design of civil and structural components necessary for project development.
• Perform structural steel design for industrial structures, process structures, rail and truck loading structures, pipe and cable tray racks, platform steel design, and other industrial designs as required.
• Perform reinforced concrete design for equipment foundations, concrete structures, containment systems, plant buildings, retaining walls, and other industrial designs as needed.
• Understand, interpret, and correctly apply national codes and standards such as IBC, ASCE-7, ACI, AISC, OSHA, and ASTM.
• Meet with new project clients to help prepare estimates and proposals.
• Proficient in STAAD Pro, STAAD Foundation, and RAM Connection.
• Proficient in Navisworks.
• Experience with standard Office Suite products.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
• 5 to 10+ years of related experience.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to conduct meetings and presentations.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to respond quickly to new issues.
• Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
• Valid driver’s license.
