Dig ditches or trenches, backfill excavations, or compact earth to grade specifications, using shovels and other equipment.
Load and unload materials, machinery, and tools; distribute to appropriate locations, according to project plans.
Signal equipment operators to facilitate movement of equipment.
May operate light equipment, air compressors, pneumatic air tools, and other equipment as necessary.
Operate motor vehicles during travel to/from jobsites.
Requirements /Qualifications:
Requires limited knowledge of techniques, tools and equipment.
Must have understanding of the hazards and precautions of the trade.
Positive attitude, hard work ethic, and a priority for safety.
Climb into and out of equipment (trucks, cars, backhoes, trenchers, etc.)
Operate or work around heavy equipment and machinery
Work in congested or remote areas
Work in extreme weather conditions depending on geographical location (below freezing to over 100 degrees and in very windy conditions)
Hours/Schedules are determined based on Region and Customer Needs and in compliance with any regulations; on average – must be able to perform the above for at least 8 hours per day 5 days per week. Weekend work/Overtime is dependent on Work Load.
Performs general construction work under direction of Foreman/Supervisor
Physical demands:
Climb up and down ladders, machinery, and other objects.
Lift, dig and concentrate on a specific task.
Push, pull, reach, and frequently carry objects such as tools, materials and equipment weighing up to 75 lbs.
Load and unload tools and equipment on truck.
Coordinate movement of eyes, hands, fingers, and feet.
Work at different heights.
All work is performed at remote locations; driving and sitting are required.
All work is outdoors, subject to inclement weather conditions.
Qualifications:
As a Labor you should have at least 0 months to 5 years of experience in the utility construction industry.
Maintain safe working habits/conditions according to all regulations and policies
Ability to communicate effectively with customers, employees, etc.
Encourage damage prevention to the excavating community
