Job Duties

  • Dig ditches or trenches, backfill excavations, or compact earth to grade specifications, using shovels and other equipment.
  • Load and unload materials, machinery, and tools; distribute to appropriate locations, according to project plans.
  • Signal equipment operators to facilitate movement of equipment.
  • May operate light equipment, air compressors, pneumatic air tools, and other equipment as necessary.
  • Operate motor vehicles during travel to/from jobsites.

Requirements /Qualifications:

  • Requires limited knowledge of techniques, tools and equipment.
  • Must have understanding of the hazards and precautions of the trade.
  • Positive attitude, hard work ethic, and a priority for safety.
  • Climb into and out of equipment (trucks, cars, backhoes, trenchers, etc.)
  • Operate or work around heavy equipment and machinery
  • Work in congested or remote areas
  • Work in extreme weather conditions depending on geographical location (below freezing to over 100 degrees and in very windy conditions)
  • Hours/Schedules are determined based on Region and Customer Needs and in compliance with any regulations; on average – must be able to perform the above for at least 8 hours per day 5 days per week. Weekend work/Overtime is dependent on Work Load.
  • Performs general construction work under direction of Foreman/Supervisor

Physical demands:

  • Climb up and down ladders, machinery, and other objects.
  • Lift, dig and concentrate on a specific task.
  • Push, pull, reach, and frequently carry objects such as tools, materials and equipment weighing up to 75 lbs.
  • Load and unload tools and equipment on truck.
  • Coordinate movement of eyes, hands, fingers, and feet.
  • Work at different heights.
  • All work is performed at remote locations; driving and sitting are required.
  • All work is outdoors, subject to inclement weather conditions.

Qualifications:

  • As a Labor you should have at least 0 months to 5 years of experience in the utility construction industry.
  • Maintain safe working habits/conditions according to all regulations and policies
  • Ability to communicate effectively with customers, employees, etc.
  • Encourage damage prevention to the excavating community

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $23.00 - $28.00 per hour
