Child Care Health Consultant (Part-Time)(ETE)

Position Highlights

This part-time position will work under the direction of the Child Care Health Consultation Supervisor with input from the Family, Consumer & Health Sciences (FCHS) Associate Agent at Yavapai County Cooperative Extension to provide Child Care Health Consultation (CCHC) in the Yavapai Region in accordance with the Arizona Early Childhood Development and Health Board (First Things First), the Arizona Board of Regents, and the University of Arizona on behalf of the Yavapai County Cooperative Extension. Responsibilities include providing consultation to childcare centers and homes to improve and protect the health and well-being of the children in their care, collaborating with other Quality First technical assistance providers, building relationships with community partners, documenting activities and completing reports for management and funding agency.

This is an Extended Temporary Employment (ETE) position.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Provide child care health consultation supports through a variety of methods including training, modeling, targeting observations and feedback, policy and procedure review and development, and resource and information sharing. Supports and hours provided are based on current Standards of Practice for First Things First Quality First Child Care Health Consultation (CCHC) Strategy current Standards of Practice and each child care sites' Quality First Level. Provide CCHC orientation for newly enrolled sites, complete Health and Safety Checklist and review Health and Safety Assessment and co-develop a Health and Safety Action Plan with assigned sites.
  • Document activities in on-line data management systems and assist with preparation of reports and program records for management or outside agencies as needed.
  • Attend or participate in First Things First/ Quality First Academy/Child Care Health Consultation onboarding, training, continuing education events and/or meetings; Quality First Technical Assistant Providers collaboration meetings, First Things First regional council meetings, and other local and state events as appropriate.
  • Collaborate with local community partners on local health and safety concerns by attending meeting and events in the community; provide community presentations; and serve as a community resource to other local stakeholders serving early care and education programs.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent advanced learning attained through professional level experience required.
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and ability to drive according to the University Fleet Safety Policy. Must also be able to provide own transportation and be able to travel statewide and nationally using all modes of transportation.
  • Must maintain a level one fingerprint one clearance card.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with child care providers
  • Experience in providing consultation and health education
  • Spanish speaking
  • Minimum of a bachelor's degree in a health-related field such as: public health, nursing, health education, social work, behavioral health or similar degree and/or an associate's degree in nursing.
  • Minimum of one year of experience working in one or multiple of the following areas; mental health, behavioral health, nutrition, health education, oral health, environmental health, and/or emergency management; Have a minimum of one year of experience working in public health, health care, school health, or similar setting.
