Job Description:

Your principal duties will be to develop and manage all underwriting and business aspects of professional liability insurance products and coverages. You will recruit and develop a staff to underwrite professional liability risks as defined in underwriting guidelines under the authority of our Insurance Fronting Carrier. The underwriting commitments must provide a profitable underwriting result for Fronting Carrier and our reinsurance partners.


Additional responsibilities are:


  • Serve as the figurative head of the professional liability products when communicating with stake holders, markets, brokers and insureds.
  • Create an environment and culture that focuses on fulfilling the Company’s mission, vision, and values.
  • Lead the development and growth of the Company’s long term and short term strategies.
  • Operational management of all businesses assigned to you by the Manager or stake holders.
  • Develop business prospects by studying economic trends and revenue opportunities; projecting acquisition and expansion prospects; analyzing organization operations; identifying opportunities for improvement, cost reduction, and systems enhancement; and accumulating capital to fund expansion.
  • Recruit, hire and maintain employees who are well-trained, qualified, and engaged at all times; work closely with the executive management team to develop effective hiring, training, and compensation plans to retain quality talent; and lead and mentor staff, engaging and empowering them to be successful in serving customers.
  • Oversee financial performance and risk profile while ensuring that all regulatory and reinsurance obligations are met; manage the design and implementation of new products and services; and oversee brand development and the implementation of effective marketing strategies.
  • Represent the Company at important business functions, community events, industry training and events, and networking opportunities.
  • Ensure quality metrics are achieved through sound business processes following regulatory agency guidelines.
  • Ensure the timely submission of month-end financial and operational reviews, contribute to the development of and participation in corporate-wide strategic planning efforts.
  • Monitor Company performance by measuring and analyzing results, initiating corrective actions, and minimizing the impact of variances.
  • Increase revenues and income before inter-company allocations and implement operating cost controls in the areas of staffing, supplies, purchased services, etc.
  • Communicate circumstances and events of operations to officers, managers and other appropriate people to keep all apprised.
