What We Are Looking For
RefinedScience is seeking an experienced Chief Technology Officer (CTO) to join an interdisciplinary team of computational biologists, data scientists, data engineers, cancer biologists, and clinicians who are seeking to develop new therapies, diagnostics, clinical decision support tools and optimize clinical trials for cancer and other diseases. This position requires regular travel to Aurora, Colorado at least twice a month.
KEY ACTIVITIES
Oversee day to day operations, policy development and the professional development of the technical teams at RefinedScience devoted to developing new data marts, sponsored research agreements (SRAs) and other projects.
Work closely with the CEO, Chief Innovation Officer (CINO) and other key advisors and stakeholders including those at the University of Colorado (CU), UCHealth and 3rd parties to develop and execute strategic vision of RefinedScience.
Work closely with the CEO and other financial officers to ensure sustainability and financial growth of RefinedScience.
Work with team leads to ensure the timely conduct and completion of high-quality data marts, reports and other deliverables for RefinedScience projects.
Work closely with clinical and scientific colleagues to interpret clinical data, single-cell omics modalities and other data types.
Work closely with RefinedScience leadership to establish and oversee external partnerships.
In partnership with technical team leads, develop and implement a technical scaling plan to optimize the platform with a focus on automation and integration.
MUST HAVES
PhD and/or MD degree in a relevant field.
10+ years of relevant professional experiences in technology leadership roles, ideally in the biotechnology or healthcare sectors.
7+ years of experience in successfully growing and managing diverse technology teams, at least 5 years of which is in an industry setting.
Experience in an early-stage biotech environment.
NICE TO HAVES
Prior experience with cancer therapeutics, drug and clinical trial development.
Background and training in bioinformatics (i.e., computational, molecular, and cellular biology).
Familiarity with quality assurance principles and activities, regulatory requirements (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA), and project management principles and tools (e.g., PMO, Slack, JIRA).
Experience with cloud computing platforms (e.g., GCP, AWS, Azure), data management (e.g., SQL), infrastructure (e.g., cloud based secured system protecting PHI), and analytical tools (R/Python).
Deep understanding of advanced statistics, AI/machine learning, and emerging innovative technologies.

What We Offer
The target salary range is $250,000 to $350,000 annually.
