Empath Health, a dynamic and rapidly growing health care organization, seeks a visionary leader to join its executive team as the Chief People & Communications Officer.

The Chief People & Communications Officer (CPCO) will be the visionary leader responsible for shaping the organization's most valuable asset: our people. The CPCO will drive the strategic direction of our human capital management, ensuring that our workforce is not only engaged and empowered but also aligned with the organization’s mission, values, and objectives.

The CPCO will be responsible for developing and executing innovative strategies in support of the overall business and strategic direction of the organization, specifically in the areas of Marketing and Communications (“MarCom”), Human Resources (HR), Employee Total Rewards, Organizational Development and Leaning (ODL), and Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI).

This includes marketing and communications both within the organization and with external audiences, succession planning, talent acquisition and management, change management, organizational development and performance management, individual and group leadership training and development, compensation and benefits, and culture initiatives consistent with “Best Place to Work” organizations. The CPCO provides strategic leadership in collaboration with the executive management team, divisions, and mission support leaders, and, as appropriate, the board of directors for Empath Health and its wholly owned and controlled affiliates (collectively “organization”).

The Qualifications Include

  • A BS or BA degree from an accredited college/university; Degree in communications, human resources or related field preferred; master’s degree in related field preferred.
  • A minimum of 15 years of HR experience, with at least 5 years of executive leadership experience.
  • SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) or SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) certification required.
  • Experience leading, directing and/or developing communication teams and/or communication plans.
  • Experience leading, directing and/or developing DEI teams, plans, and/or initiatives preferred.
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills with the ability to write, speak and communicate effectively with diverse audiences.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to create a collaborative culture and communicate effectively with others, willing to encourage different viewpoints and take decisive action.
  • Responsible for the overall administration of financial management, budget, and reporting related to the areas of responsibly and accountability.
  • Advanced working knowledge of applicable state, federal and local laws, ordinances, regulations and guidelines, as well as applicable accreditation standards and requirements.
  • Able to demonstrate an effective and working knowledge of computers, Microsoft products (including Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint) and social media platforms.
  • Possess a valid Florida Driver’s license with appropriate automobile insurance and ability to travel as needed within and outside of the organization’s geographical footprint.
  • Employee must sign organization’s standard Business Protection Agreement.

  • An individual with unquestioned integrity and impeccable business and personal ethics.

  • An individual with demonstrated success as an executive setting and managing priorities, delegating and motivating others.
  • Ability to use independent judgment and work effectively with little or no direction.
  • Works well under stress with deadlines. Ability to handle a variety of complex projects simultaneously.
