Chief Operations Officer (COO)
Thea Energy is seeking for an experienced, organized, and motivated COO to lead technical operations. This position will lead an interdisciplinary team to integrate numerous first-of-a-kind technologies while developing scalable processes and procedures. The COO will be responsible for the managing requirements, integration, and interfaces for one of the most consequential and cutting-edge technologies of our generation - fusion energy.

Key Responsibility Areas:
- Build and lead a team of engineers and scientists to deliver first of a kind fusion technology projects
- Work with Thea Energy leadership to ensure that the Company’s integrated stellarator prototype fulfills its mission and aligns with stakeholder requirements
- Interface the system design with other areas of the Company, including R&D, project management, procurement, finance & operations, etc
- Plan and execute a design that proceeds at risk with incomplete information
- Collaborate with R&D teams to transfer know-how and tools developed
- Report to the CEO
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant engineering field or higher
- 10+ years of relevant experience
- Proven experience integrating large industrial and /or first-of-a-kind R&D projects (e.g. power plants, manufacturing facilities, particle accelerators, etc.)
- Built and led teams of engineers in complex, interdisciplinary projects
- Experience across mechanical, electrical, and fluid systems
- Experience with cryogenic, heating, fluid, vacuum, power electronics, and control systems
- Ability to build, test, troubleshoot, and scale complex mechanical and electrical systems
- Leadership of engineering, technical, and scientific teams
- Strong communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to innovate, execute, and flourish in a fast-paced environment
