About our Client:

Stepp & Rothwell, Inc. is a boutique fee-only financial planning and investment advisory firm dedicated to providing personalized financial strategies to high-net-worth individuals and families. Headquartered in the Kansas City area, their team of financial professionals provides unbiased, results-oriented advice on issues like financial independence, estate planning, tax planning, cash flow management, risk management, education planning, wealth accumulation and preservation, and charitable giving. They develop client-specific strategies that encompass them all, concurrently.


The selected COO will manage four administrative professionals and liaise with 25 client managers and ownership. This is a general office administration position that requires leadership, ability to work independently and lead/manage a small administrative team.


The Chief Operating Officer (COO) will join their executive team to drive operational excellence while allowing the principals to focus on their high value contribution to the firm – helping their clients be successful!


Job Summary

The Chief Operating Officer (COO) will be responsible for overseeing the firm's day-to-day operations, ensuring efficiency and effectiveness across all departments to include both people and processes. The COO will work closely with the Owners and other senior staff to develop and implement strategies that enhance client satisfaction, improve operational performance, and support the firm's growth objectives.

Key Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, or a related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred.

Experience: Minimum of 10 years of experience in operations management within a professional service firm with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.

Skills Required:

  1. Strong leadership and managerial skills with the ability to inspire and motivate teams.
  2. Must be exceptionally organized and bring consistency to the organization.
  3. Excellent strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities.
  4. An understanding of the wealth management industry and regulatory environment would be helpful but not required.
  5. Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
  6. Proficiency in financial management and budgeting.
  7. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  8. Technologically savvy with experience in leveraging technology for operational improvements.
