Do you have a proven track record in setting the strategic direction for a business and leading a company to its fullest potential? Are you a highly motivated, independent, result-driven Chief Operating Officer with experience in the equipment rental industry? If so, we would like to talk with you about joining our team as Chief Operating Officer with US Markets Inc.


The Chief Operating Officer will lead a talented team as we continue our commitment to providing uncompromising quality and integrity in every job and every deal we do. With the founder, you will be responsible for leading the strategic direction of the company. You will own the management of day-to-day operations through strong leadership and transparent communication while maintaining a pulse on the equipment re-rental industry landscape. The position requires reviewing existing internal systems and processes to make changes that support efficiencies in key business functions without sacrificing profitability as the company grows.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage leaders across the business and work cross-functionally with the Sales, Marketing, Accounting, IT, HR, and Rental Coordinator & Fleet Service teams to execute best practices and drive growth
  • Serve as key contact to customers, investors, industry partners, vendors and bankers
  • Collaborate with the CFO on financial aspects of the company including establishing and monitoring budget and forecasting
  • Maintain profitable operation of the company and take cost reduction measures as needed
  • Oversee operational management including structural/procedural updates and changes as appropriate to attain smooth and efficient operations
  • Keep apprised of the re-rental industry landscape and adjust business operations to respond to construction market conditions as needed
  • Regularly evaluate personnel needs and determine proper organizational structure in partnership with the company’s HR Generalist
  • Play an instrumental role in the recruitment, onboarding and retention of USM employees
  • Maintain focus on the vision of the organization, rallying employees, investors and customers around growing the USM brand and customer-base
  • Oversee and direct all marketing campaigns, mass customer communications and market research projects with the support of a Marketing Coordinator
  • Evaluate & improve management of the rental fleet, and create/improve fleet analysis process - fleet mix, identification & evaluation of new products, negotiate and acquire new rental assets, assess fleet damage, age, disposal and replacement
  • Determine pricing, manage sales channels
  • Attend annual industry conferences and customer meetings to drive growth of new business


Minimum Requirements

  • 5 years as a Chief Officer of company or division of $10,000,000 or greater in annual revenue
  • Experience in the equipment rental industry is preferred
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving and decision-making skills required
  • Demonstrated experience with critical path development and management to drive results.
  • Ability to lead, motivate and direct the efforts of others to achieve their highest level of performance
  • Strong knowledge of the sales process as well as possess a keen attention to detail
  • Exemplary customer-facing abilities and presentation skills
  • Flexible to work in a fast-paced environment where no two days are alike


USM has an In-Office work culture and is located in Elmhurst, IL. Travel to industry conferences and key customer meetings required, typically ~10%.
