Our client seeks a Chief Operating Officer to partner with the Executive Management Team and Board of Directors to establish long-range goals, strategies, plans, and policies. The COO will be responsible for designing and implementing these policies to promote the company culture and vision while overseeing operations to keep the business on track.


What you will do:

  • Translate strategy into actionable steps for growth, implementing organization-wide goal setting, performance management, and annual operations planning.
  • Implement strategies and oversee the execution of plans to attain short and long-term financial and mission-critical operational goals.
  • Oversee company operations and employee productivity, building a highly inclusive culture that ensures team members can thrive and that organizational goals are met.
  • Establish credibility throughout the organization and with the Executive Team as an effective developer of solutions to business challenges.
  • Demonstrate a willingness to take on new tasks with a general attitude that no task is too small, impossible, or cannot be improved.
  • Drive the company to achieve and surpass sales, profitability, cash flow, and business goals and objectives.
  • Spearhead the development, communication, and implementation of effective growth strategies and processes.
  • Collaborate with the executive management team to develop and implement plans for the operational infrastructure of systems, processes, and personnel designed to accommodate the growth objectives of the company.
  • Motivate and lead a high-performance management team; oversee daily operations of the company while fostering a success-oriented accountable environment.
  • Bring a different perspective and ideas on how to manage costs, and drive revenue and profitability.
  • Manage subordinate business unit supervisors across multiple locations and over various functions; hold responsibility for these units' overall direction, coordination, and evaluation.
  • Evaluate performance by analyzing and interpreting data and metrics.
  • Manage capital investments and expenses aggressively to ensure that the company achieves investor targets for growth and profitability.
  • Participate in expansion activities (investments, acquisitions, corporate alliances, etc.)
  • Work autonomously while ensuring CEO expectations are readily met and exceeded.
  • Build and maintain trusting relationships with key customers, clients, partners, and stakeholders.
  • Maintain a healthy work environment and ensure sound policies and procedures are in place.
  • Ensure adherence to general safety rules, procedures, and regulations.

  • Judgement: Display willingness to make decisions, exhibit sound and accurate judgement, and make timely decisions.
  • Safety and Security: Observe safety and security procedures and ensure proper use of equipment and materials.
  • Financial Acumen: Strong ability to understand financial statements, general financial principles, and how to impact revenue.

What you have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, construction management, engineering or related field; and/or Master’s License for Skilled Trades (Plumbing, Electrical, Mechanical)
  • 3-5 years of progressive experience in a VP or higher-level position managing one or more major business functions (e.g., operations, business development, etc.)
  • 15 years of comprehensive knowledge of industry and industry-related trends and forecasts, i.e., skilled trades, underground utilities, etc.
  • Experience in estimating and project management
  • Experience working in a fast-paced skilled trades environment
  • Familiarity with mergers and acquisitions is preferred
