JK Executive Strategies has been retained to identify a Chief Operating Officer as a senior member of the executive management team of a well-respected multi-location, manufacturing firm in the Western, NY area. Reporting to the CEO, the Chief Operating Officer (COO) oversees the company’s operational processes and ensures efficient and effective manufacturing operations.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in the manufacturing sector, exceptional leadership skills, and the ability to drive operational excellence. As a key executive team member, the COO will be responsible for optimizing our production capabilities for each location, enhancing supply chain efficiency, and ensuring the highest standards of quality and safety.

Responsibilities:

• Oversee all aspects of daily operations, including production, supply chain, logistics, and quality control.
• Ensure operational processes are efficient, cost-effective, and scalable.
• Lead the production team to meet or exceed production targets.
• Develop and implement operational strategies that align with the company’s goals and objectives.
• Implement lean manufacturing principles to minimize waste and improve efficiency.
• Monitor production metrics and KPIs to ensure optimal performance.
• Oversee supply chain management, including procurement, inventory management, and distribution
• Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers and vendors to ensure timely delivery of materials, which includes international suppliers and tariff requirements.
• Optimize logistics and transportation processes to reduce costs and improve delivery times.
• Ensure that all products meet the highest standards of quality and safety.
• Implement and maintain quality control systems and procedures.
• Lead continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product quality and operational efficiency.
• Promote a culture of safety and ensure compliance with all relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations.
• Ensure all operations comply with federal, state, and local laws and regulations.
• Develop and manage operational budgets to ensure financial performance.
• Analyze financial reports and use data to drive operational decisions.
• Work closely with the CEO and CFO to align operational and financial goals.
• Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing operational team.
• Foster a collaborative and results-oriented work environment.
• Implement training and development programs to enhance team skills and capabilities.
• Collaborate with the CEO and executive team to develop and execute the company’s strategic plan.
• Identify opportunities for growth and operational improvement.
• Lead initiatives to expand operational capacity and capabilities including potential expansion and consolidation recommendations.
• Liaise with Board of Directors providing operational updates and recommendations to ensure alignment with corporate objectives.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Engineering, Operations Management, or a related field.
• MBA or equivalent advanced degree preferred.
• 10+ years of progressive experience in operations management within the manufacturing industry, preferably reporting to a board of directors.
• Proven track record of success in a senior leadership role, preferably as a COO or similar position.
• Experience with lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies.
• Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent leadership and team management abilities.
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency in operational management software and tools.
• In-depth knowledge of manufacturing processes and supply chain management.

Salary Range:

• $225K to $250K annually + variable compensation
