Stealth Startup

Chief of Staff

Stealth Startup San Francisco Bay Area

Visa sponsorships provided.

About Us

Our mission is to redefine care for the most vulnerable. The healthcare system is failing the underserved. It's a struggle to find care, to afford care, and to receive quality care.

We are a company currently in stealth mode that is transforming the healthcare experience for low-income families through purpose-built, thoughtful technology.

We are funded by world-class investors including Sequoia Capital and Khosla Ventures as a Series A startup. We are led by a founder who grew up on Medicaid (public insurance) and personally knows the desperation of not being able to afford medically-necessary care. We achieved great demand in less than a year of launch and growing!

Here, we believe that anything can be achieved through pure will, determination, and grit. We value builders with a similar mindset.

The Role

We're looking for an ambitious, sharp, and organized executor to support the CEO with strategic initiatives and scale their time (essentially, a right hand person and brain 🥊). This is an in-office position in San Francisco (at least 5 days in-person with leaders and some company travel).

We have grown exceptionally fast and expect that growth to continue to accelerate. That growth comes with the complexity of requirements that differ across the United States. You’ll be in the front-row seat of scaling a startup to best balance optimal patient experience with varying regulatory requirements and that will support hypergrowth. It’s an interesting challenge that keeps us going everyday.

In this role you will:

  • Execute toward company strategic initiatives. You’ll drive implementation of strategic projects and oversee cross-functional teams to align with the company’s mission and goals.

  • Monitor company performance and opportunities for improvement. You’ll help analyze metrics and data to assess the company’s performance and implement change toward trends, opportunities, and potential risks.

  • Own new ventures development. You’ll conduct research, complete competitive analysis, and provide insights to support decision-making when it comes to strategic company bets on new business lines or ventures.

  • Manage teams and stakeholder relationships. You’re excited to work with an impactful team of builders and represent me across different company functions. You'll handle communication processes and serve as a bridge for internal and external stakeholders such as team members, investors, and families.

Our Value Prop to You

  • Environment for growth and mentorship. You will have the opportunity to drive great impact and gain exposure to all functions of the company. Your career and personal growth is our #1 priority. No matter what you want to do after, whether it is growing internally with us as a company or taking a leap elsewhere, we'll help you get there.

  • Create life-changing impact for millions. The work you do will have an immediate and significant impact on millions of lives. Low-income families are often turned away from care and treated with little respect in healthcare. You’re fired up to flip this narrative!

  • Propel innovation in healthcare. We are leading the change in healthcare against traditional players and outdated systems. You’ll be able to operate in a fast-paced environment and iterate.

  • An energizing, compassionate team. Our team cares deeply about each other. We strive to elevate and uplift each other in our day-to-day work to do the best for our families. We don't believe in bureaucratic nonsense.

  • Supporting your wellbeing. We provide benefits to allow you to do your best work: 1) Competitive medical, vision, dental, 401K, and life insurance, 2) In-person collaboration (we’re based in San Francisco), 3) Unlimited paid-time-off (PTO), 10 paid holidays, and parental leave, and 4) Paid company off-sites, meetups, and team bonding events.

The Requirements

We index on your experience, leadership, and hustle.

  • At least 3 years of management consulting, investment banking, or start-up operational experience. Bonus points if you worked in healthcare.

  • Experience in business analytics and metrics. You’re data driven and use that to inform your decisions. Bonus points if you studied a technical major or worked in a technical field such as engineering, data analytics, etc.

  • Experience with project management. You can manage progress and outcomes of a project or initiative by aligning stakeholders.

  • Experience with setting strategic direction. You’ll understand the company’s mission, influence strategic objectives, and execute toward measurable goals.

  • Excitement to get in the weeds and extreme hustle is needed. We are an early stage startup after all, and therefore, this could mean putting out fires on the weekend or diving into the smallest technical details late at night. Everyone on the team is relentless about delivering their best work.

  • 100% Commitment. This must be your full time and top commitment (not part time). This role has great opportunities for growth alongside the company, and your plan is to grow with it for the next 2-3 years. This role isn't suitable for people who have a side hustle at this time.

Who We're Looking For

This role would be a fit for you if you have the following:

  • Pride in being the jack-of-all trades. Everyone has heard of the ‘a jack of all trades is a master of none’ quote. However, what most people missed is the second half of the quote ‘a jack of all trades is a master of none, but oftentimes better than a master of one’. You know this, and it’s your superpower.

  • Operational execution and leadership. Strategy is 30%, and execution is the other 70% that gets you to the finish line. Your uncanny advantage is your strong strategic thinking coupled with your speed for execution. For teams you work with, you are known for bringing operational velocity - which is speed with a clear direction. You can create scalable processes to grow your team.

  • Team-player and beginner's mindset. You thrive in a team and are curious about how operational decisions impact other teams such as clinical, technology, product, etc and vice versa. You have a low ego and are willing to learn. You are willing to admit to mistakes and have an open mindset to new avenues of problem-solving.

  • Compassion for families. You are absolutely relentless about putting our families first. You truly see this as an opportunity to help the most vulnerable. You view user empathy as a part of your core skill set. You can make decisions with our families in mind.

  • Force of nature. You take extreme ownership. There are no tasks or problems that are beneath you - even the most unsexy or complex. You are able to drive critical goals under ambiguity and constraints. You’ve done something most people haven’t. Whether you’ve started a company, won a hackathon, qualified for the Olympics, and/or overcame difficult adversities, it is evident that you’ve demonstrated initiative throughout your career and life.

If you're passionate and excited about transforming the lives of families in need, working with a tight-knit team, and building something special, don’t hesitate to apply. Even if you are hesitant after reading this entire job description, just apply anyway. One small action can always change an entire trajectory :)
