Fionta is an early growth stage Salesforce consulting firm serving the nonprofit and association sectors. We are seeking a hands-on Chief Financial Officer to join the executive team to lead the development and execution of growth strategies while advancing profitability and continuing growth in cash flow. The CFO will oversee all finance and accounting activities of the organization, direct the preparation of financial statements and reporting, and provide strategic direction in all financial functions including strategic financial planning, accounting, budgeting, tax and treasury. Responsibilities include direct leadership of the finance and accounting department and personnel.

Ideal candidates will have significant experience working in technology consulting services businesses and be fluent in consulting metrics, financial forecasting and KPIs to measure and improve company performance.

Essential Functions

Job-Specific
  • Is a key member of the Executive Leadership Team with responsibility for leading all financial activities and strategies for the company and working closely with other executive team members to set a strategic course and achieve company goals
  • Prepares all financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, shareholder reports, tax returns, and governmental agency reports
  • Manages all core finance and accounting functions, including but not limited to:
    • Monthly, quarterly, and annual accounting close and reporting
    • Monthly invoicing and revenue recognition
    • Semi-monthly payroll
    • Accounts receivable, accounts payable, and vendor management
  • Supervises finance and accounting team:
    • Ensures quality and timely performance of all finance and accounting functions.
    • Partners with each direct report to establish goals and objectives on an annual basis. Monitors and advises on progress to enhance their personal and professional development.
  • Analyzes financial data, assesses company performance and recommends opportunities to improve results.
    • Develops financial models to support strategic business goals including, but not limited to, workforce optimization, pricing, and multi-year forecasting.
    • Offers sound financial facts, analyses, and observations to inform and support operational and strategic performance.
    • Prepares insightful analyses and recommendations for cross functional leadership team.
    • Identifies areas of opportunity to shape the Company’s strategic direction.
  • Approaches working capital management in a proactive and strategic manner to ensure that the company has adequate cash flow to cover operations while also improving liquidity and growth in positive cash flow.
  • Prepares annual budget and maintains dynamic financial projections
    • Works with the CEO and other executives to coordinate planning and establish priorities for the planning process.
    • Works with each department to produce and manage budgets
    • Compares sales and profit projections to actual figures and budgeted expenses to actual expenses
    • Oversees any necessary adjustments to future projections and budgets
  • Ensures proper financial controls are in place to minimize risks and support and scale operations
  • Ensures tax and reporting compliance with all federal, state, and local jurisdictions
  • Manages all engagements with external tax advisors and financial auditors, as applicable
  • Ensures benefit and incentive plans operate in accordance with all plan documents and regulatory requirements
    • Coordinates annual filing of Form 5500s, and other disclosure and reporting requirements
    • Coordinate annual filing related to Stock Option Plan, and other disclosure and reporting requirements
    • Maintains capitalization table for the Company
    • Maintains tracking and reporting related to annual incentive compensation plan
  • Manages ad hoc requests for finance-related information, reports, and analyses
    • Prepares monthly and quarterly reporting for Executive team and Board
  • Additional duties as assigned

Essential Skills and Work Experience
A combination of at least 10+ years of experience in a directly relevant role desired.
In addition, the following are critical skills are desired or required (where noted) to perform well in this position:

  • 7+ years of sustained, hands-on experience with management of a financial function, department or organization is required.
  • Experience in a similar-sized or larger technology services company highly desired
  • Direct people management experience is required
  • Expert working knowledge of Quickbooks or comparable accounting software/ERP
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting or Finance (or equivalent training and experience) is required.
  • MBA and CPA are desired.
  • Working knowledge of Salesforce or comparable CRM desired
  • Demonstrated skill and interest in communicating financial insights to stakeholders across the organization
  • Comfort in collaboration with individuals at all levels of the organization, including Executive and Board-level
  • Excellent written and spoken communication skills
  • Excellent analytical and organization skills
  • Ability to manage priorities and deadlines in a dynamic, fast-paced environment

Fíonta offers a generous benefits package that includes health, dental, 401k, vacation, and holidays. The candidate must be willing and able to travel on occasion.

The base salary range for this role is $155,100-$201,630*
