One of our portfolio companies is looking for a new Chief Financial Officer! Named one of the fastest-growing technology companies in Connecticut, this portfolio company has seen significant revenue growth over the last 3 years and is seeking a dynamic and experienced finance leader to join the team and contribute to its financial success.


This person will play a pivotal role in shaping and executing the financial strategy. As a strategic leader, you will be responsible for overseeing all financial activities, ensuring accurate financial reporting, optimizing capital structure, and driving growth and profitability. You will work closely with the CEO, executive team, and key stakeholders to provide financial insights, make data-driven decisions, and drive sustainable business growth.


This position will be located in New Haven County, CT with the expectation of working in the office at least 4 days per week.


Job Responsibilities


  • As a strategic leader, you will be responsible for overseeing all financial activities, including financial reporting, financial forecasting and modeling, and driving growth and profitability
  • You will work closely with the CEO, executive team, and key stakeholders to provide financial insights, make data-driven decisions, and drive sustainable business growth
  • You'll ensure that the team incorporates financial controls and considerations into relevant day-to-day operations and decision-making, product planning, and product profitability where it makes sense
  • You'll oversee accounting, supported by our Accounting Manager, to close our books in a timely manner each month and prepare financial reporting
  • You'll develop and maintain necessary accounting policies and systems and scale our accounting department as the company grows
  • Help us set and achieve our revenue and budget targets and relevant goals, develop tools to provide critical information to the leadership team and relevant stakeholders
  • Interact with the board of directors
  • Provide strategic guidance around capital financing options to support our growth including corporate fundraising strategy and managing relationships with partners and investors
  • Oversee and manage the company's finance IT system to evaluate and over time evolve the appropriate software programs & processes based on unique needs
  • Oversee stock plan administration
  • Coordinate corporate tax reporting and preparation of tax returns with outside tax accountant
  • Provide strategic recommendations to the CEO and executive team on financial matters, risk management, and investment opportunities
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards, legal requirements, and tax regulations
  • Oversee treasury and Cash Management by monitoring and managing cash flow, liquidity, and working capital
  • Work closely with the executive team and Human Resources to develop and implement a talent strategy aligned with company budget and strategic initiatives
  • Act as a key liaison with shareholders, analysts, and potential investors
  • Deliver financial presentations, reports, and updates to communicate the company's financial performance and growth prospects
  • You will build and lead a high-performing finance team
  • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement
  • Represent the company externally, as necessary, particularly in banking and lease negotiations


Requirements


  • 10+ year of experience in accounting or finance
  • Prior experience leading a finance team in a venture-backed, high-growth start-up that you helped scale and where you helped build new systems and processes
  • Expert experience with financial analysis and forecasting, including experience with financial modeling, preparing statistical reports and making recommendations based on analysis and research
  • Proven track record of working with cross-functional partners to use the finance team to define metrics, set goals, track progress, and drive operational improvements
  • Deep knowledge and understanding of modern finance and accounting tools and techniques.
  • Comfort in the startup environment and able to create structure and foundational accounting processes
  • Experience with Rippling, Quickbooks, Carta, Brex, and other financial software
  • Background or experience in Fintech or Healthtech strongly preferred
  • Strong priority management skills
  • Proven experience leading, managing and hiring a team
  • Strongly leadership skills with proven ability to develop and execute financial strategies that align with business objectives
  • Fundraising and Investor Relations experience with the ability to oversee fundraising, capital raising, and investor relation
  • Ability to establish and maintain relationships with investors, venture capitalists, and financial institutions
  • Knowledge of accounting regulations, tax laws, and financial compliance requirements
  • Experience in implementing financial controls, risk mitigation strategies, and internal audit processes
