Chief Estimator

MWH Constructors, a global leader in heavy civil construction of water and wastewater facilities, is seeking a Chief Estimator to support and lead estimate development and preconstruction efforts on critical water, wastewater, and advanced water treatment plant projects for both municipal and industrial clients (including advanced technology sector clients) based out of the Phoenix, AZ metropolitan area.

Projects may be a mix of Design-Build, Design Bid Build, and Construction Manager at Risk and range in size from $20-1+ billion. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing multiple, simultaneous estimating projects and resources while maintaining company standards of quality and sponsoring the estimate through the operations and management team's reviews. The position will require strong coordinator and communication skills along with the ability to deliver high quality cost estimates within the prescribed budget and schedule.

Essential Functions

• Serve as the point of contact for project managers and coordinate the parameters of the estimating assignment.
• Review solicitation and design documents such as contracts, specifications, and drawings to identify risks and opportunities related to competitive pricing.
• Develop and manage the estimate schedule and coordinate internal milestone dates with the discipline estimators.
• Distribute design and solicitation documents to the pricing team while maintaining revision control during estimate development.
• Review the final multi-discipline estimate and prepare reports and other deliverables for the management review.
• Oversee all "bid day" activities for traditional Design-Bid-Build pursuits.
  
  

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in Engineering, Construction Management, other technical degree, or equivalent experience.
• 15+ years of estimating experience, preferably incorporating various contract types.
• Understanding of water treatment plant processes and construction standards.
• Experience supervising other estimators to develop a comprehensive project estimate.
• Experience with Safe Timberline Estimating and Microsoft Office.
• The candidate should be comfortable working with both designers and project managers through all levels of design from conceptual to 100% complete.
• Periodic travel may be required based on project needs.
• Strong computer skills are essential.
  
  

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with HCSS HeavyBid Estimating software.
• 20+ years of relevant estimating experience, preferably at multiple levels of design completion.
