About the role:

Reporting to the Chief People Officer and a company's People Leadership Team member, the Chief Diversity & Inclusion Officer (CDO) will lead enterprise-wide diversity and inclusion platforms. This role will drive equity and transparency across Condé Nast's markets and brands and partner with the People Team centers of expertise and the business to ensure the recruitment, development, and sponsorship of a new generation of diverse talent at Condé Nast. The CDO will drive actual results and continuously adapt strategies to meet evolving business needs. This includes working with our brand teams to reflect our commitments throughout our content.

To be successful in this role, the new CDO leader must be a talent magnet and an authentic leader of people. This individual must have diverse cultural experiences, personally and professionally. This individual will be flexible and agile enough to navigate the internal and external Condé Nast ecosystem with speed and diplomacy and be willing to drive industry-wide change. The CDO will lead by emphasizing intense collaboration, partnership, inclusivity, teamwork, communication, and transparency at all levels.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Evolve and execute our global diversity and inclusion strategy to benefit all functions and geographies and ensure Condé Nast is a D&I leader in the industry.
  • Drive the strategic direction and plans for Condé Nast's global diversity and inclusion strategy, ensuring alignment with the overall business and broader people strategies—partner with Condé Nast's executive leadership team to champion this vision across the enterprise.
  • Work with brand and commercial content leaders to support content development in line with our commitments to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Develop and cultivate a deep understanding of the organization and how best to link D&I strategy/outcomes to the enterprise people strategy.
  • Engage enterprise leadership in a way that gains advocacy and ownership of the D&I and People strategy.
  • Continue operationalizing the D&I strategy and driving global execution, focusing on measurable results.
  • Elevate and support the employee resource groups, ERGs, with their programming, exposure, and success.
  • Work closely with Labor Relations teams to deliver on our workforce commitments and partnerships with teams.
  • Link strategies to talent acquisition objectives, processes, and systems to ensure that they are progressive and remain effective in diversifying talent pools for hires at all levels.
  • Understand and leverage all talent tools: talent management, learning and development, acquisition, rewards, and performance management.
  • Collaborate with Condé Nast's communications team to create a diversity and inclusion-focused internal and external communications strategy - including external recognition and sponsorship.
  • Develop relationships with business leaders globally to influence appropriate diversity and inclusion goals and initiatives – considering local laws, norms, best practices, and business priorities.
  • Be a key representative of Condé Nast to the external world on diversity and inclusion. Act as an internal and external ambassador representing company values in the external diversity and inclusion professional space for best practice sharing and benchmarking.
  • Responsible for developing communications, awareness, and reporting on all D&I initiatives and commitments. As such, communication skills are a must have capability for the role.

We seek 10+ years' experience in progressive leadership roles and 5+ years of leading diversity and inclusion at a divisional or enterprise level. Work experience includes interfacing with the C-level executives of an organization of similar scale and complexity. Success within a dispersed, complex, global organization is required. Experience enhancing and implementing a strategy and translating it into actionable, business-focused diversity and inclusion initiatives. Create, deliver, measure, and evolve applicable diversity strategies and best practices. Continuously "learn" and adjust strategies, programs, and personal thinking to ensure Condé Nast is a highly diverse and inclusive organization.

Track record of leveraging quantitative analysis and metrics to design and measure diversity and inclusion initiatives. Familiarity with the quantitative analysis associated with diversity metrics and understanding how metrics drive and influence business outcomes.

Established market reputation and credibility in diverse communities as a leading diversity and inclusion expert. Leverage thought leadership, expertise, and brand and divisional relationships to enhance content directly, as well as Condé Nast's ability to recruit, sponsor, and retain top diverse talent around the globe.

Commercial orientation: Passion for brands and the consumer. Display curiosity and enthusiasm for the front end of Condé Nast's business and leverage this to gain credibility as a coveted advisor. Experience in a fast-paced, consumer-facing business is preferred.

Global mindset: Extensive exposure to organizations with a similar geographic footprint. Passion for travel or previous expatriate experience is highly desired.

The expected base salary range for this position is from $240,000 - $290,00. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including but not limited to relevant skills, training, experience, and education.

In addition to salary and a generous employee benefits package, successful candidates may also be eligible to receive discretionary bonus compensation.
