POSITION SUMMARY


Under the general direction of the President/CEO, the Chief Commercial Banking Executive is accountable for directing all commercial lending, bank ancillary product partner collaboration, and line of business operational activities. The Chief Commercial Banking Officer will expand, develop, implement and manage a bank-wide commercial lending and deposit strategy concentrating on reaching organizational short-term and long-term objectives; as well as developing and deepening customer relationships. Leading the commercial division by example, the Commercial Banking Executive will individually develop and manage a portfolio of significant commercial relationships concurrently with department leadership responsibilities. The Chief Commercial Banking Executive will also direct the bank’s Treasury Management division.

All duties will be executed in strict accordance with established or evolving policies, procedures and objectives of the bank and in compliance with all state and federal regulations.


JOB DESCRIPTION



  1.  Proactively seeks out new and innovative approaches to add value to the client relationship by providing services, whenever practical, in a highly relational and consultative manner tailored to the respective client.
  2. Directs all commercial lending activities while ensuring the maintenance of adequate internal controls. Reviews lending issues and ensures regulatory compliance. Maintains loan portfolio within bank policy and direction established by the bank.
  3. Serves as a member of the Senior Management team. Collaborates to develop short and long-range strategic plans, policies, standards, and controls. Participates in the implementation of plans, policies and monitoring of ongoing progress.
  4. Attracts new customers to the bank; and deepens customer relationships by participating in community groups, activities, and functions. Actively and authentically promotes interest in the bank wherever and whenever possible.
  5. Will be an active, participating member of various committees, as assigned.
  6. Oversees subordinate's activities, provides for their continued development through training and mentoring, and coaches them for continued performance and development.
  7. Conducts periodic performance reviews, and provides direction while promoting individual and unit proficiency.
  8. Develops and manages incentive plans for commercial team members in consultation with the CEO. 
  9. Makes suggestions for process improvements and workflow efficiency, taking action when appropriate.
  10. Evaluates and recommends department-related costs and efficiencies.
  11. Analyzes and approves loan requests within lending authority. Reviews all formal credit presentations from subordinates and presents all significant credits through appropriate channels on requests exceeding lending authority.
  12.  Will be responsible for bringing in deposits and for developing and maintaining deposit relationships; along with lending relationships.
  13. Responsible to safeguard all lending activities are in compliance with loan policy and appropriate regulations.
  14. Maintains dashboard detailing loan portfolio status, presenting to Executive Management and/or the Board as required. This may also include providing loan volume analysis and balance projections to support the Chief Executive Officer and Chief Financial Officer in development of the annual budget and strategic planning forecasts.
  15. Represents the Bank through participation in industry and community activities. Actively and authentically promotes interest in the Bank wherever and whenever possible.
  16. Encourages and monitors the referral of appropriate client opportunities to the respective internal bank partner by subordinates.
  17. Must understand laws and regulations that impact commercial loan and deposit functions. Must understand how to review various banking functions to evaluate level of risk associated with these functions.
  18. Must understand all aspects of cash management and other commercial products for business customers, including essential investment products related to business and business owners.
  19. Maintains awareness of competitive lending and economic conditions.
  20. Must understand and comply with credit and credit administration as relevant to a community bank.
  21. As a part of the overall team of bank employees, this position may be asked to assist in the support of other bank activities.

he potential to understand and effectively apply selling techniques to open, develop and close a sale; must be able to create interest in a product and actively cross-sell other products and services.


MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS


• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or other relevant business field ideal, or equivalent experience.

• Minimum of ten (10) years of commercial lending experience required, across all verticals and asset classes of commercial lending, in a traditional bank environment.

• Minimum five (5) years of progressive responsible leadership experience of a commercial lending platform in a traditional bank environment.

• A practical working knowledge with, but not limited to, the following products and services; U.S. Small Business Administration lending programs, loan participations, interest rate hedging products, wealth and investment management, title insurance, and Federal Home Loan Banks (FHLB) products is essential.

• Must have proficient computer skills, including advanced spreadsheet expertise and intermediate word processing and presentation software skills.

•Possess a strong knowledge of key regulatory issues and control assessment processes.

• Required to be eligible for registration with NMLS.

• Must have strong business development focus and have a robust commitment to community and civic involvement.
