Job Description

The Chief Accounting Officer (CAO) position of iA American Warranty Group (iAAWG) supports the CFO, US Operations, and is responsible for leading all accounting functions for US Dealer Services. The applicant must reside in Texas.

This position works with senior leadership to develop and implement accounting and operational strategies and metrics tied to the iAAWG strategy. The CAO will build strong working relationships with the broader iA financial management leadership to represent iAAWG and assist with the achievement of iA strategic goals. The CAO will develop and monitor control systems designed to report accurate financial results and preserve company assets. This position maintains an extensive knowledge of current and potential market conditions.

Your focus

Strategic – 30%

• Partner with senior leadership to execute the current corporate strategic plan
• Lead and implement a process-based approach for all accounting activities
• Lead the development and establishment of risk management strategies
• Provide insight, analysis, and strategic recommendations to support the CFO, and US Sectors in making key operational and financial decisions
• Build and deliver compelling presentations that highlight key financial concepts
• Lead the development and establishment of internal controls spanning all areas of accounting operations, to support the achievement of IAAWG objectives.
• Monitor and report on overall control systems and compliance to the Audit, Finance, and Risk Management Committee
• Develop a culture of accountability, high performance, and operational excellence
  
  

Operational - 25%

• Lead accounting and finance senior management to support them in directing all aspects of accounting and finance operations
• Lead and oversee the organization's external financial reporting responsibilities
• Lead the development of the organization's monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting processes for both iAAWG and reporting within iA
• Lead compliance with the organization’s internal audit responsibilities
• Support internal audit procedures (as directed by the internal audit team), addressing issues raised and assessing any impact on the organization
• Support the internal audit program results reporting, including providing appropriate reporting to the Audit, Finance, and Risk Management Committee and to the organization's external auditors
• Lead all tax planning and compliance with all required federal, state, local, payroll, property, and other applicable taxes
• Lead the development and maintenance of financial policies and cost controls, accounting practices, and relationships with banks, key vendors, and management team
• Lead change initiatives and process improvements within Accounting and Finance
  
  

People and Team Leadership – 25%

• Ensure performance, strategy, and alignment of the company’s Accounting and Finance team
• Develop visibility and financial reporting tools for senior leadership, the A&F team, and internal teams
• Clearly communicate the company’s vision, goals, and priorities to A&F team members
• Provide oversight, coaching, and guidance to the A&F team
• Employee performance management, including coaching, training, and support to enhance the efforts of the team
• Develop and operationalize procedures, policies, tools, and systems to enhance the results of the team
  

Who You Are

• A bachelor’s degree in finance, business, or related field. Master’s degree in finance preferred
• Senior Financial and Industry leadership roles of 15+ years
• Senior management or executive experience
• Diverse Finance leadership roles, driving and implementing accounting and operational processes and controls
• Significant experience in general management
• Ability to craft and execute a business strategy effectively
• Experience in making decisions based on business metrics
• Knowledge of federal and state financial regulations
