Overview
We are seeking an experienced and forward-thinking individual to join our team in the role of Vice President of Academic Life and Dean of Faculty. This full-time position offers a unique opportunity for someone dedicated to creating a thriving academic atmosphere and influencing the future of higher education. As the Chief Academic Officer, you will play a crucial role within the President's Cabinet, reporting directly to the President.
Key Responsibilities
*Leadership & Vision:*
Provide academic and administrative leadership with a focus on fostering a collaborative and student-centered environment.
Develop and communicate a compelling academic vision for the institution.
Faculty Support
Supervise and support faculty, professional development staff, and academic teams to ensure an exceptional educational experience for students.
Provide guidance and resources for faculty growth and success.
Curriculum & Program Oversight
Evaluate and enhance curriculum and academic programs to maintain high standards of quality and relevance.
Drive initiatives to continuously improve the educational offerings.
Grant Coordination
Lead efforts in grant writing to secure funding for academic initiatives and programs.
Accreditation & Quality Assurance
Oversee the accreditation process, particularly with a focus on SACSCOC.
Lead the institutional Quality Enhancement Plan to ensure academic excellence.
Strategic Planning
Contribute to strategic planning initiatives to address student needs and enhance student success.
Faculty Development & Evaluation
Conduct annual evaluations of Program Directors and faculty members to support their professional growth.
Facilitate promotions and recognition for outstanding contributions.
Advocacy & Representation
Serve as an advocate for the Faculty Senate and Faculty Affairs Committee within the President's Cabinet.
Represent the institution in regional and national organizations.
Event Coordination
Plan and coordinate key academic events such as Induction, Convocation, Awards Day, and Commencement ceremonies.
Committee Leadership
Chair and participate in various committees, including the Academic Council and QEP Committee.
Student Engagement
Engage with new students during orientations, open houses, and pre-registration events to create a welcoming environment.
Qualifications
A Master's degree required; Doctorate preferred.
Experience working in 2-year higher education institutions welcomed.
Proven track record in effective college-level teaching.
Experience overseeing accreditation processes, preferably with SACSCOC.
Background working with diverse student populations.
Strong administrative experience in academic affairs.
