We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Cement Chemist/Engineer to join a dynamic team and contribute to the advancement of sustainable building materials.
Job Description: As a Cement Development Engineer/Scientist, you will play a pivotal role in the laboratory, developing and testing proprietary cementitious products. You will be responsible for transitioning lab-based formulations for production scale-up and assisting in the scale-up at various off-site locations, including our facilities, tollers, or licensees. Your expertise in cement chemistry and testing, along with your ability to manage third-party laboratory workflows, will be critical to success.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and test proprietary low carbon cementitious products in the laboratory.
- Focus on non-traditional cements such as geopolymers, slag cements, and polymer-modified cements.
- Conduct and manage ASTM testing requirements for cements, mortars, and concrete.
- Transition lab-based formulations for production scale-up and assist in scale-up at off-site locations.
- Manage workflows using third-party laboratories for standard ASTM testing.
- Supervise and train laboratory technicians.
- Travel approximately one week per month and work some weekends as required.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry or Materials Science (Master’s preferred).
- At least 5 years of experience in the field of cement chemistry or related areas.
- Strong background in cement testing and ASTM requirements.
- Familiarity with large-scale powder blending equipment and bulk handling of raw materials.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills in English.
- Proficiency in Office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); familiarity with Six Sigma type software is a plus.
- Ability to supervise and train laboratory technicians.
- Willingness to travel approximately one week per month and work some weekends.
