JOB SUMMARY

Become a critical member of our fast-growing team working to industrialize South 8’s novel

Liquefied Gas Electrolyte, a breakthrough battery technology to change the way batteries are

made and used worldwide to advance a clean energy future.

You will have the opportunity to utilize your knowledge, experience, and creativity to develop

and deliver electrolyte materials processing and manufacturing systems for volume production

of novel battery cell systems.

RESPONSIBILITIES

● Support the design, build, and integration of high rate/low-cost production systems for

blending a variety of materials and fluids under pressure to create liquefied gas

electrolyte products.

● Support the design and build of battery cell electrolyte injection systems.

● Develop electrolyte manufacturing systems utilizing in-depth knowledge of industrial

mechanical and fluid systems

● Utilize and acquire knowledge of chemistry, materials science, and automation controls

to ensure successful delivery of processes to production

● Model industrial systems, fluids routing, and facility design

● Generate/refine Heat & Material Balances (HMBs) using process simulator

● Develop, procure, and implement analytical methods and tools for process validation

● Create and release detailed manufacturing drawings, schematics, and work instructions

for build and fabrication

● Specify and down select components, such as sensors, valves, pumps, piping, and

tanks, and provide detailed specifications for their purchase

● Support system integration and activation schedules meeting tight deadlines

● Write procedures for system activation, manufacturing operations, and preventative

maintenance

● Deliver innovative solutions to assigned areas of ownership under minimal supervision or

direction

● Compile technical report summaries for leadership and customers/partners

● Effectively communicate ideas, concepts, designs, and results with the team

● Contribute to technical writing of grants, patents, and reports

REQUIREMENTS

● Bachelor's degree in chemical engineering, materials engineering, or mechanical

engineering

● Experience working with fluid processing and delivery systems

● Knowledge of the design, build, and operation of hazardous processing equipment

● Willingness to travel domestic and international to vendors for discussion and

qualification activities

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

● Experience with Aspen Plus fluid modeling

● Familiarity with industrial control systems (such as PLCs)

● Excellent written and oral communication

● Working knowledge of battery cell construction

● Electrolyte development and liquefied gas experience

● Excellent written and verbal communication skills

● Ability to lift 25 lbs unassisted

COMPENSATION

At the time of posting, the expected starting salary range for this role is $80,000 – $120,000

annually. The actual pay depends on multiple individualized factors, including education,

job-related knowledge, experience, and skills, which will be assessed during the interview

process. The comprehensive compensation package for this position may also include other

elements, such as health benefits, 401k, and company stock options. The base pay range and

package is subject to change and may be modified in the future.
