The ideal candidate will have classroom experience in art instruction at the intermediate or middle school level.

A track record of success as evidenced by strong art instructional practices, positive student perceptions and relationships, positive communications and relationships with parents and through the strong recommendation of colleagues and supervisors
Ability to contribute strongly to a team, collaborate with colleagues and appropriate others
Ability to plan and create a consistent curriculum for students in grades 4-7
Understanding of the pedagogy and central concepts of the content area
Ability to use data to drive instruction and reflection regarding the learning process
Possess confidence in utilizing technology to facilitate instruction and as a means of effective two-way communication with all stakeholders
Highly motivated teacher with the ability to cognitively engage students in learning and facilitate the instructional process
Understanding of student learning styles and age appropriate instructional strategies that support creative thinking, higher-order thinking, problem solving and real-world connections for students
Evidence of engaging in high quality professional development as defined by the Tennessee Department of Education
