Summary

Full-time and part-time positions available for PSIA/AASI certified Children's and Adult instructors for the 24/25 winter season! The instructor will provide quality ski/snowboard instruction to groups and individuals in a safe and fun manner while upholding all California Skier Safety Act rules/regulations and company guidelines.

Duties And Responsibilities Are (but Not Limited To)

  • Upholding the highest levels of guest safety on varied challenging terrain with constantly changing winter weather conditions.
  • Clearly and accurately instructing assigned levels of skiing or snowboarding to students, both physically and verbally.
  • Ensuring that students are matched to appropriate skier/snowboarding skill level and working with supervisors/managers to make appropriate changes when necessary.
  • Assisting guests with transportation of equipment.
  • Assisting guests to load and unload the chairlift.
  • Communicating instructions and helping guests to their feet during a lesson; lifting children by the vest (if applicable).
  • Supervising children in class at all times; assisting at lunch and snack times; ensuring return of children to identified guardian.
  • Assisting in operational responsibilities of Ski & Ride School programs including but not limited to registration process, directing guests to appropriate equipment-fitting source, upkeep of outdoor teaching areas, and cleanliness of facilities.
  • Contribute to team effort by participating in Job Sharing, assuming responsibility for the cleanliness of the resort and safety of guests and employees; participating in safety meetings; accepting diverse assignments; maintain a positive and friendly attitude and demeanor in all internal and external interactions.

Responsibilities To Safety

  • Protect the safety of self, co-workers, and Sierra-at-Tahoe Resort guests at all times.
  • Report any potentially harmful equipment or situations to the immediate supervisor without delay.
  • Report safety-related accidents and incidents at once to immediate supervisor.
  • Follow all company and department safety policies and procedures.
  • Operate equipment in a safe manner that will not lead to injury of yourself or others.
  • Drive in accordance with the law and Sierra-at-Tahoe Resort policies.

Qualifications

  • Attend Sierra Snow College at Sierra-At-Tahoe training sessions- provided.
  • PSIA/AASI Level 1, 2 or 3 certification- required.
  • Previous ski/snowboard instructor experience - required.
  • PSIA/AASI membership in good standing – required.
  • Basic knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet and browser applications; basic Internet navigation- required.
  • Must have excellent guest service skills- required.
  • Must work well in a team environment - required.
  • Must be available to work holidays and weekends- required.
  • Experience working with guests of all ages - preferred.
  • Previous experience with teaching/coaching/mentoring - preferred.
  • Previous experience with teaching/coaching/mentoring children - preferred.

EDUCATION And/or EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or general education degree (G.E.D.); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret graphs.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Resort certification on any necessary equipment.
