Location: Joint Base San Antonio-Fort Sam Houston, Texas
Duties and Responsibilities:
Lead the choir, sing music, and play a lead instrument (piano or guitar) for congregational singing during scheduled services and special services as needed
Select music for preludes, interludes, and postludes that conform to the liturgical norms of the Roman Catholic Church and are approved by the Catholic Chaplain
Participate in rehearsals as directed, with the length not exceeding two hours
Ensure timely setup and preparation of equipment before services
Recruit and recommend high-quality music volunteers from the JBSA community
Collaborate on musical selections with the Catholic Chaplain for approval and provide arranged, improved, and scored music as appropriate
Return all government-owned music scores and equipment following the last service provided under the contract
Qualifications and Experience:
Familiarity with Catholic liturgical worship
Minimum of three years of experience in leading/directing choral or music groups and formal training in a music-related field
Ability to sight-read Gregorian Chant, standard hymns, anthems, and special solo music
Familiarity with the Catholic Faith and Liturgical needs and practices
Ability to work well in a multi-denominational setting
Proficient in English, both written and spoken
