Requirements:
Completing a cardiovascular technology program
Cardiovascular Technologist Registration with Invasive Specialist certification RCIS
Current BLS from the AHA or ARC
What You Will Do:
Preparing patients and equipment for cardiac catheterization and interventions
Performing common catheterization interventions including, stent placements, balloon angioplasties, heart valve replacements, and electrophysiology tests
Operating intracardiac or intravascular ultrasound equipment, fluoroscopy equipment, or other imaging systems
Assisting with handling venous and arterial catheters and wires
Monitoring blood pressure and heart rate using electrocardiogram (ECG or EKG) equipment during procedures including coronary angiography, pacemaker implantation, aortic stenosis studies, and patent foramen ovale closures
Calculating hemodynamic or physiologic values, and record waveforms for patient records
Retrieving and analyzing imaging and other data obtained during procedures
Cardiovascular invasive specialists who work in an electrophysiology laboratory typically become proficient with cryoablation, biplane X-rays, radiofrequency trans septal puncture, and cardiac stimulation protocols.

ShorePoint Health Port Charlotte is a full-service facility offering services in emergency care, primary stroke center, orthopedics and the only licensed obstetric and pediatric units in Charlotte County. The on-campus Southwest Florida Heart Center is an accredited chest pain center with PCI offering comprehensive cardiac services.
ShorePoint Health Punta Gorda is a 208-bed Joint Commission Accredited hospital part of a regional network of seven hospitals. ShorePoint Health Punta Gorda features all-private patient rooms in the acute care setting, and offers an accredited primary stroke center, the Joint Commission Certified Joint and Spine Center, an accredited chest pain center, an accredited hyperbaric and wound care center, and emergency care services.
