Position Overview:
Cataloochee Ski Area is seeking a dedicated and experienced Snowmaking Supervisor to oversee our snowmaking operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing a team of snowmakers, ensuring efficient snow production, and maintaining high standards of snow quality. This role requires strong leadership skills, technical expertise, and a commitment to safety and environmental stewardship.
Key Responsibilities:
Supervise and coordinate all snowmaking activities to ensure optimal snow coverage and quality across the ski area.
Lead, train, and manage a team of snowmaking personnel, including scheduling, performance evaluations, and conflict resolution.
Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot snowmaking equipment, including snow guns, compressors, and pumps.
Monitor weather conditions and adjust snowmaking strategies accordingly to maximize efficiency and effectiveness.
Collaborate with other departments, such as grooming and lift operations, to ensure seamless integration of snowmaking efforts.
Implement and enforce safety protocols and procedures to protect staff and guests.
Maintain accurate records of snowmaking activities, equipment maintenance, and inventory.
Assist in budgeting and resource allocation for snowmaking operations.
Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and best practices for sustainable snowmaking.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent; degree in a related field preferred.
Minimum of 3 years of experience in snowmaking operations, with at least 1 year in a supervisory role.
Strong technical knowledge of snowmaking equipment and systems.
Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
Ability to work long hours in varying weather conditions, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Proficiency in using snowmaking software and other related technology.
Strong commitment to safety and environmental stewardship.
Ability to lift and carry heavy equipment and work in physically demanding conditions.
