About The State Fair Of Texas
Since its inception in 1886, the State Fair of Texas has celebrated all things Texan by promoting agriculture, education, and community involvement through quality entertainment in a family-friendly environment. The State Fair of Texas is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization with proceeds helping to preserve and improve our home, Fair Park; underwrite museums, community initiatives, and scholarship programs to support students throughout the Lone Star State pursuing higher education; and help improve State Fair operations.
Summary
The Cash Collector is responsible for accurately collecting cash from the coupon seller, placing and sealing cash inside a deposit bag, and accurately recording cashier’s recycler ID on deposit bag and deposit bag slip, with the least possible disruption to the Coupon Sales operation. The success of the cash handling operation relies on the Cash Collector’s adherence to the Cash Collector Procedures document which is distributed annually to each Cash Collector.
DUTIES And RESPONSIBILITIES
Essential and other important responsibilities and duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
Essential Functions
Accurate handling of cash. Accurate document recording.
Train beginning Cash Collectors in the unit’s currency collection procedures.
Assist other teams/areas in their cash counting operations as directed by the manager/supervisor.
Maintain amiable relationship with team members, coupon sellers, SFT Safety/Security Team and State Fair Bankers.

Any combination of experience that would likely provide the required knowledge is qualifying:
Qualifications
Understanding and alignment with the core values of the State Fair of Texas.
Heavy cash handling, math skills, legible handwriting, and accurate document recording.
Adhere to State Fair of Texas Cash Collector procedures.
Consistent attendance and punctuality are a must.
Preferred Education And/or Experience
High School Diploma or higher level of education.
Previous work experience in money handling.
Oral and written communication.
License Or Certificate
Possession of, or ability to obtain, an appropriate Texas driver's license.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED and EXERCISED
Reports to Manager of Cash Collectors
Work independently with minimal supervision.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Environmental Conditions
Working outdoors in various weather conditions and on uneven and/or slippery surfaces, as necessary, especially during Fair time and special events.
Physical Conditions
Essential and other important responsibilities and duties require maintaining physical condition necessary for
Remaining in a stationary position for prolonged periods of time in tight quarters.
Walk short and long distances to access office supplies, meet guests, perform Cash Collector duties within Fairgrounds, etc. (Typically, will walk between 2 and 5 miles per day).
Remain aware of the surroundings of internal and external contacts.
Verbally communicate with both internal and external contacts.
Must be able to carry a backpack weighing up to 20 pounds unassisted.
Work Schedules
Must be able to work open to close (i.e. Daily approximately 11:00 a.m. to 10:00 pm.)
Work hours will vary depending on SFT events.
