Department: Carton Gluing
Position reports to: Production Manager
Summary:
A gluer operator is a skilled trade requiring up to 4 years of apprenticeship training on various assets throughout the department before successful completion of the program. This position requires a self-starter with a desire to efficiently produce a quality folding carton in a team setting. Job duties include setup and operation of various folder/ gluers including ancillary devices.
Job Duties:
1. Set up and operates asset, including detection and scanning, to set production requirements per SOP's, related work instructions and Control Riders.
2. Actively monitors production efficiency completing all documentation and reporting accurately.
3. Trouble shoot machine problems as it pertains to equipment and set up.
4. Assists in minimizing the scope of remakes (identifying problems in a timely fashion through attributing).
5. Achieve expectations set by the lead or supervisor through the use of white boards and sustain production expectations.
6. Provides consistent up to date information to the production lead and/or management during each process control check.
7. Relieves crew for breaks and to assist in training.
8. Performs other related duties as required.

Requirements:
1. Skill to motivate your assigned team through consistent and reasonable communication.
2. The ability to understand defects which may be encountered in the manufacturing of Folding Cartons.
3. A good attitude and attendance with the willingness to work overtime on short notice.
4. Mechanical aptitude for both trouble shooting and for maintaining the equipment to factory specifications.
5. Safety must always be practiced and be a priority.
6. A solid understanding of basic electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic fundamentals.
7. Hand eye coordination to deed or catch product while relieving crew members during breaks.
8. Accurate reporting in the ERP and other documentation.
9. An eye for detail will be critical for detecting quality imperfections during production.
10. The ability to make quality decisions while under production pressures.
11. Mentoring skills for new and experienced member of your team.
12. Team player that sets an example for the crew.
13. Supervisory skills as you oversee other members on your team.
14. The ability to show adequate progress after each review cycle and achieve journeyman status in the allotted time frame.
15. The desire to continue to learn and hone your skill set throughout your career as this is an ever-changing and challenging field.
16. Physical Requirements: Twisting, turning, squeezing, reaching, reaching over equipment, kneeling, crawling, pulling, extended periods of standing, ability to lift 50 pounds.
