Do you want to make an impact in a family's life? Do you want to prevent children from becoming involved in the child-welfare system?

If you answered yes, the Prevention and Diversion Department has openings within our new program Child and Parent Together Always (CAPTA). The CAPTA program is designed provide wrap around services to improve the permanency and well-being of our most vulnerable population, the substance-exposed newborn. This position focuses on families to reduce the number of substance exposed newborns (SEN), reduce removals of SEN’s, and improve parent/child well-being.

Purpose

As a member of the Children and Parents Together Always (CAPTA) Home Visitation Program, the CAPTA Parent Educator will provide Safe Care Education and support to CAPTA families by integrating parent and family engagement strategies into program services to support family well-being and promote healthy child development.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: include, but are not necessarily limited to:

  • Perform regular home visits with the families as determined by Safe Care model guidelines and contract requirements and meets the expected home visit completion rate each month.
  • Promote and model effective parent-child interaction through teachings and activities that enhance and strengthen bonding and parenting skills.
  • Provide families with referrals and linkages to community services.
  • Collaborates with community partners including hospitals, MAT Clinics and other treatment providers, OB/GYNs, midwives, pediatricians, child protective investigators, county health departments, or any other community agency.
  • Arrange or provide transportation of clients when needed.

Requirements

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:

Minimum of High School Diploma or GED equivalent; two years direct experience in the delivery of services to families and children. Associate degree in human services Field Preferred.
