Location: New York City, NY

Status: Remote Contractor (New York City and surrounding area)

Job Overview:

Seeking a skilled and creative Camera Operator. As a Camera Operator, you will be responsible for capturing high-quality video footage of events, interviews, and other newsworthy occurrences around New York City. The ideal candidate will have a keen eye for detail, strong technical skills, and a passion for visual storytelling.

Responsibilities:

  • Operate video cameras to record news events, interviews, and other footage.
  • Collaborate with journalists, directors, and other team members to ensure that video content aligns with the project's vision and standards.
  • Set up and break down camera equipment before and after shoots.
  • Ensure proper lighting, framing, and audio quality during filming.
  • Edit and prepare footage for publication as needed.
  • Maintain and care for camera equipment, ensuring it is in good working condition.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest trends and technologies in video production.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a camera operator, with a strong portfolio of video work.
  • Proficiency in operating video cameras, lighting equipment, and audio gear.
  • Strong technical skills and understanding of video production processes.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to capture high-quality footage.
  • Familiarity with video editing software (e.g., Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro).
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as needed.
  • Physical ability to transport and set up camera equipment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Film, Media Production, or a related field.
  • Experience covering news events and interviews in New York City.
  • Knowledge of digital journalism and social media platforms.
  • Creative vision and storytelling ability.
  • Experience with live streaming and broadcast equipment.
