Job Overview:
Seeking a skilled and creative Camera Operator. As a Camera Operator, you will be responsible for capturing high-quality video footage of events, interviews, and other newsworthy occurrences around New York City. The ideal candidate will have a keen eye for detail, strong technical skills, and a passion for visual storytelling.
Responsibilities:
Operate video cameras to record news events, interviews, and other footage.
Collaborate with journalists, directors, and other team members to ensure that video content aligns with the project's vision and standards.
Set up and break down camera equipment before and after shoots.
Ensure proper lighting, framing, and audio quality during filming.
Edit and prepare footage for publication as needed.
Maintain and care for camera equipment, ensuring it is in good working condition.
Stay up-to-date with the latest trends and technologies in video production.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
Proven experience as a camera operator, with a strong portfolio of video work.
Proficiency in operating video cameras, lighting equipment, and audio gear.
Strong technical skills and understanding of video production processes.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
Excellent attention to detail and ability to capture high-quality footage.
Familiarity with video editing software (e.g., Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro).
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as needed.
Physical ability to transport and set up camera equipment.
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Film, Media Production, or a related field.
Experience covering news events and interviews in New York City.
Knowledge of digital journalism and social media platforms.
