Buyer/Planner

Position Summary

This position is responsible for the purchase of products and services required in a timely manner, at established quality specifications, and best competitive pricing. The position will collaborate with planning, manufacturing, master scheduling, supply chain management, logistics, quality, and finance personnel to complete duties.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Communicate and coordinate with teams to ensure continuous supply of products, procure goods and services at the lowest cost consistent with quality, reliability of source, and urgency requirements, and in compliance with purchasing/financial approval guidelines and requirements within ERP system; Executes pull-ins, push outs, cancellations, expedites, and new orders at minimal cost as required. Adheres to purchasing policies and company business standards of conduct.
  • Prepares all aspects of simple bids, requests for quotes, and proposals, including precise specifications, supporting spreadsheets, comparisons, recommendations, and justifications. Negotiates pricing, delivery, lead time, capacity, change management, business process, and executive management in collaboration with Supply Chain Management; issues purchase orders.
  • Maintains approved supplier lists, Tracks, provides material status, and expedites actual and forecast shortage materials as required to achieve timely receipt of materials. Validates supplier commitments. Assists in evaluating supplier performance. May participate in supplier business meetings and audits to maintain strong working relationships.
  • Maintains all records in accordance with established policies and procedures and audit guidelines. Interfaces with Finance and Receiving to resolve invoice and receiving problems.
  • Communicates with suppliers to resolve problems that may arise regarding delivery, quality, price, or conditions of sale.
  • Lives the company culture of integrity, teamwork, self-discipline, and professional competence.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


Education & Experience

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)

  • B.S../B.A. Degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Engineering or related discipline preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in Purchasing, Supply Chain, or Materials Planning with at least 2 years of experience in Purchasing preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience working in an MRP system as a buyer preferred.
  • Business experience in high-volume manufacturing industries is preferred.
  • Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM) or related certification is a plus.


Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  • Requires a general understanding of supply chain management, competitive analysis, cost analysis, cost avoidance and reduction, negotiation, commodity knowledge, information systems / commerce, and procure to invoice.
  • Strong knowledge of industry best practices.
  • Proven negotiation skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software, as well as inventory software.


Ability to

  • Read, write and understand information presented in English; ability to communicate information and ideas.
  • Work well under pressure, in a fast-paced, high-stress environment with multiple deadlines; proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Work over a 40-hour week if necessary.
  • Travel up to 25% (domestic and/or international).
  • Interact with a diversity of people.
  • Use sound judgment.
  • Model good communication skills and be sensitive, adaptable, professional, and articulate when dealing with others.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

Working Conditions/Hours

Full time/Salaried

Available/willing to work overtime to meet project commitments as required.

Work Environment – Office

Includes both a typical office environment, with minimal exposure to excessive noise or adverse environmental issues, and a shop environment, with exposure to high noise levels from operating machines, physical hazards from moving equipment and machine parts, nuisance dust, and exposure to hazardous materials used in the manufacturing process.

Work Environment – Manufacturing/Shop Environment

Includes a shop environment, with exposure to high noise levels from operating machines, physical hazards from moving equipment and machine parts, nuisance dust, and skin exposure to hazardous materials used during material prep process.

PPE

Ear Protection that meets minimum OSHA requirements is recommended in areas of high noise levels.

The base pay is just one part of CelLink's total compensation package and is determined within a range. The pay range is designed to support your career progression as you learn, grow, and develop within your role. Your base pay range will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.

San Carlos, CA Base Pay

$70,000—$110,000 USD
