Job Summary

  • Responsible for obtaining the best quality, service, and value for products and services.
  • Conducts effective bidding, negotiation, and supplier management.
  • Identifies manufacturing needs and selects suitable suppliers.
  • Initiates purchase orders and arranges for delivery of products and services.
  • Provides parts, equipment, services, and materials of limited scope and complexity.
  • Requires a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Preferred certificate in Purchasing Management (CPM).
  • Needs knowledge of key purchasing and negotiating methods, and general business operations.
  • Must have general knowledge of legal and regulatory requirements related to procurement.
  • Requires a basic understanding of continuous improvement techniques and methods.
  • Ability to use standard business application software and specialized purchasing/materials systems.
  • Must be able to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, and percentages.
  • Ability to research and analyze data, develop recommendations, or resolve problems.
  • Must be able to work independently, determining priority and order of assignments.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret financial reports.
  • Ability to respond to inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or business community members.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Effective negotiation skills to obtain best price and terms.
  • Must be able to participate in goal-setting, performance feedback, and self-development activities.
