An established leader in the custom color masterbatch/additives industry with a strong global presence and over 1100 employees worldwide is looking for a strategic and highly visible Commercial/Business Unit/Market Manager. The successful candidate optimizes sale growth and profitability in support of the business unit’s strategy and objectives. Primary responsibilities include the management and coordination of the commercial team (team of 5: Account Management, Business Development and Customer Service) through the entire sales cycle. The Commercial/Business Unit/Market Manager will be responsible for top line revenue generation and will have the opportunity to coordinate and communicate with external customers as well as internal stakeholders such as technical support, customer service, finance, operations and product development. This role offers remote work flexibility (preferably East Coast remote) with up to 50% domestic travel.


Your Responsibilities:

  • Lead the Strategic Business Unit with ultimate responsibility for top-line revenue and value-add, driving business growth objectives
  • Analyze business performance against budgets and goals, creating actionable paths for achievement
  • Directly manage sales, field service, and customer service teams, developing and guiding them to achieve sales and profit goals
  • Lead cross-functional business teams and prioritize product development efforts
  • Define and execute global business unit strategy, assisting Account Managers with account strategies
  • Develop and prepare reports for executive committee reviews, managing the performance of direct reports
  • Identify competitive threats and create action plans to counteract them
  • Oversee annual and monthly forecasting and budgeting processes for the business unit
  • Implement new systems and procedures to maximize organizational efficiencies
  • Perform with and contribute to a highly motivated sales group with a strong team atmosphere
  • Demonstrate technical knowledge of plastics processes, color feed systems, and extrusion/injection molding processes
  • Provide effective problem-solving methods related to the use of masterbatch, compounds, and additive materials
  • Exhibit excellent negotiating skills to achieve win-win results and show high initiative to achieve aggressive goals
  • Lead effectively by communicating with executive management, sales groups, and customers, delegating workload, and overseeing multiple activities to maximize productivity
  • Follow all quality system and safety protocols, contributing to safety goals, and assisting in continuous improvement efforts


Your Profile:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Minimum of 5 years of industry experience in following product industries (color, profile extrusion, plastics/plastic compounding, paints/inks, building&construction industry, window/decking/fence industry)
  • Minimum of 2 years in a sales, account management, product role within relevant product industries
  • Custom compounding experience and functional knowledge of injection molding processes is highly desirable (but not required)
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience managing a team of direct reports
  • High level of communication skills and the ability to interact and influence at all levels of an organization
  • Customer-facing experience
  • US East Coast remote with openness to travel 50% domestic
