Pocus

Business Operations

Pocus New York, NY

About The Role

Pocus is on a mission to transform how go-to-market teams use data to drive revenue.

In the last 2.5 years, we built Product-Led Sales from an unknown to one of the hottest categories in go-to-market tech and brought on customers like Miro, ClickUp, Asana, Canva, and Monday.com. We are backed by best-in-class investors (First Round & Coatue) and angel investors (COO Notion, CPO Figma, CRO Zapier, CEO dbt, COO Datadog, CEO Postman, CPO Adobe, etc.). And we’re just getting started…

The Pocus team is full of humble overachievers that like to move quickly (we call it shiperate), own our work, give customers superpowers, and create magic for our team… all while having a ton of fun. Join us on this next phase of growth!

Why this role

  • Be an early member of the BizOps team: You’ll work directly with Pocus’ existing operations team and the co-founders to build the foundation of BizOps for years to come.
  • Act as the glue within the company: Given the cross-functional nature of the role, you will interface with every area of the business and connect dots that need connecting.
  • Understand how the sausage is made: This is a high-visibility role where you will become intimately familiar with the needs and challenges around scaling an early-stage, high-growth software company.
  • Wear multiple hats: No two days are the same. You'll work on Pocus' highest priority projects and work across Finance, People, Strategy, GTM, RevOps, and more.
  • Learn more in 1 week at Pocus than 1 year at another company: We do more with less — we’re able to ship what other teams with 10x of the resources do in 1/10th of the time. We consistently get feedback that our responsiveness and velocity set us apart as our customers’ favorite vendor.
  • Join an incredible team at a magical time: We’re at the beginning stages of explosive growth. Join a passionate, scrappy, and no-ego team of builders that will inspire you every day.

What You’ll Do

Track KPIs and help manage the financial and operating models

  • Define and iterate on Pocus’ operational and financial metrics; set up an operational cadence to track / report metrics and drive new initiatives to improve metrics
  • Manage Pocus’ models and related analyses to evaluate different growth plans, track runway, and allocate resources
  • Communicate with our leadership team; help us understand the state of the business and where levers can be pulled to shape our trajectory

Lay the operational groundwork for massive growth

  • Implement tools for internal operations around sales, customer operations, billing / invoices, human resources, recruiting, etc.
  • Implement policies and procedures around new processes to ensure efficiency and alignment

Work cross functionally

  • Work across the company to pitch in wherever help is needed; one day you might be working with product to improve our onboarding experience, the next you might be working with our CEO on a board deck, and the next you might be working with customer success to define customer health metrics

Who You Are

As a small and early stage start-up, alignment on culture and values is our #1 priority. People that are successful at Pocus, regardless of role, strongly identify with the following:

  • You are a humble over-achiever. You’re constantly asking for and excited about feedback that helps you learn and grow.
  • You don’t take yourself too seriously. You like to work hard but not without plenty of smiles and laughs along the way 🙂
  • You are delusionally optimistic. Big challenges and projects excite and motivate you.
  • You have exceptional integrity and always do the right thing, even if and especially when no one else is watching.
  • You are a problem solver, not a problem identifier. Your first reaction when encountering something that isn’t working is to think “What can I do to make this better?”
  • You strive to perfectly balance individual initiative with humility and collaboration, understanding when it is better to ask for help and when it is better to solve a problem independently.
  • You move with a self-imposed sense of urgency. You strive to constantly find the perfect balance between speed and quality and you understand when to make that tradeoff.
  • You have a high bar for quality and you honor your commitments.
  • You are excited about building foundations and you love learning new things as part of that. You have a bias towards documentation and writing things down.
  • You are excited about working in a high-growth, fast paced environment where you can have meaningful ownership and impact on the business, and understand that sometimes that requires short sprints (key word short - we recognize that this is a marathon and we don’t want you to burn out!)

As an ideal candidate, you have/are:

  • 2+ years of relevant experience: You have experience in investment banking, consulting, technology, venture capital, or private equity. You have a track record of running complex, cross-functional initiatives in fast-paced environments.
  • Scrappy: You are comfortable with ambiguity and enjoy experimenting with new ideas. You have a bias towards action. You move quickly, but intentionally.
  • Organized: You enjoy managing multiple initiatives simultaneously and can work independently to drive projects to completion with a high level of attention to detail.
  • Intellectual curiosity: You are proactive to identify new opportunities for Pocus and can pick up new projects with limited direction. You are hungry to learn.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset: You think and act like a founder / owner.
  • Low ego: No project is too big or too small. You are excited to jump deep into the weeds when needed, and will do anything it takes to get the job done.
  • Clear communicator: You have excellent communication, presentation, and writing skills.
  • Analytical: You have strong spreadsheet modeling experience and ability to derive insights from data. You know SQL or are willing to learn.
  • Bonus:
    • You've been in a BizOps or Strategic Finance role at a growth stage B2B SaaS company
To apply, in addition to the application form, please send an email with a cover letter attached to jared@pocus.com with the subject line "Pocus BizOps". Within the cover letter, please highlight at least one project (e.g. pricing optimization) or functional area (e.g. Finance, People) that you would be excited to work on!
