Global Wealth Management Operations provides brokerage, investment and financial services to hundreds of thousands of individual investors. Products include mutual funds, stocks, bonds, and alternative investments where appropriate, as well as banking, mortgages, insurance and annuities.

The Client Tax Operations Department is responsible for ensuring that all withholding and reporting obligations of the Firm are met.


Job Purpose:


The principal accountabilities of this position is to support all aspects of tax filings in our global markets for our Stock Plan/Retirements business under Shareworks by Morgan Stanley concentrating on the US markets initially. Currently our global markets include Canada, United States, Australia, the United Kingdom, and New Zealand. The incumbent has the necessary skills to complete tasks on our proprietary software, Shareworks, excel and third-party tax programs, and has the necessary knowledge to conduct research for the different jurisdictions and any new countries that Shareworks moves into.

Primary Responsibilities for the role:


• Work within one or more global Tax product management teams to communicate requirements to support the Shareworks Stock Plan Tax processes and systems

• Work with tax ops to understand processes and systems that execute against regulatory requirements

• Partner internally and with senior stakeholders to understand and identify change opportunities

• Understand the strategic Change agenda and assist in completing budgeted deliverables

• Assist in creating JIRAs and document agreed-upon requirements to enhance systems/processes

• Provide senior management reporting and status updates

• Manage and run the annual runbook for tax reporting to ensure tasks are assigned, completed, and closed

• Escalate any obstacles that may hinder meeting Client communicated dates or regulatory deadlines

• Perform all required testing of updates/enhancements to forms, files and processes etc.

• Manage any special handling requirements for clients inclusive of tax form amendments for clients

• Update processes and procedures policy portal as required


Key Skills/Qualifications:


• Strong analytical skillset with the ability and desire to learn complex technical regulations, processes, and solutions

• 3+ years of experience in brokerage or operations

• Experience with Tax regulations is a big plus

• Previous employee share plan and tax production background would be advantageous

• Familiarity with US reporting for global employee share plan requirements

• Self-motivated and eager to learn

• Excellent time management skills during tight deadlines

• Develop knowledge and expertise in the related Tax regulations, operational functions, and systems

• Proactively engage and collaborate with all co-workers globally to build positive rapport to contribute as an effective team member as measured by their feedback

• Analytical, accurate, and strong problem-solving skills essential

• Vocal ability to challenge business deficiencies identified through the tax production process

• An ability to articulate issues both in verbal and written form to help aid swift resolution

• Comfortable with technology and technical concepts in a fast-paced changing environment

• A deep belief in team success, collaboration and a willingness to adapt to continuous change

• An ability to work independently, handle numerous assignments concurrently and consistently be a self-starter that excels at meeting and exceeding professional goals
