About Us: The Newmark School & Newmark High School are dynamic educational institutions committed to providing quality education and fostering a supportive learning environment for students. We are currently seeking a dedicated and experienced School Business Manager to join our team and contribute to the efficient operation of our school.

Responsibilities

  • Financial Management:
    • Develop and manage the annual budget in collaboration with school administration and relevant stakeholders.
    • Monitor budget performance regularly and provide timely financial reports to school leadership.
    • Oversee accounts payable and receivable processes, ensuring accuracy and compliance with financial policies and procedures.
    • Identify opportunities for cost savings and efficiency improvements within the school's financial operations.
  • Human Resources Administration:
    • Manage payroll processing and ensure timely payment to staff.
    • Oversee employee benefits administration, including health insurance, retirement plans, and leave management.
    • Maintain accurate records of personnel information and ensure compliance with relevant employment laws and regulations.
  • Facilities and Operations Management:
    • Coordinate maintenance and repair activities for school facilities, including buildings, grounds, and equipment.
    • Procure necessary supplies and services for the school, negotiating contracts and agreements as needed.
    • Develop and implement procedures to ensure the safety and security of students, staff, and visitors on school premises.
  • Compliance and Reporting:
    • Ensure compliance with all relevant local, state, and federal regulations governing school operations, including financial reporting and taxation requirements.
    • Prepare and submit required reports and documentation to regulatory agencies and funding sources.
    • Serve as the primary point of contact for external auditors and regulatory inspectors, facilitating audits and inspections as necessary.
  • Strategic Planning and Leadership:
    • Participate in strategic planning activities to support the long-term goals and objectives of the school.
    • Provide leadership and guidance to administrative staff and other team members, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
    • Collaborate with school leadership to develop and implement policies and procedures that promote organizational effectiveness and sustainability.
Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, finance, accounting, or a related field (Master's degree required).
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in financial management, preferably in an educational or nonprofit setting.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices, budgeting processes, and financial analysis.
  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Proficiency in financial software applications and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact professionally with diverse stakeholders.
  • Commitment to upholding ethical standards and maintaining confidentiality in handling sensitive information.

"Business manager" means an individual whose job function includes a majority of the following: financial budget planning and administration, insurance/risk administration, purchasing, financial accounting and reporting, facility planning, construction and maintenance; personnel administration; administration of transportation and food services; and data processing. Prior to June 30, 2017, the holder of this job title shall hold a bachelor's degree in business, accounting, finance, or economics from an accredited institution or a standard school business administrator's certificate but shall not be required to hold a school certification. Effective July 1, 2017, all business managers, except those employed by the APSSD as a business manager or otherwise serving as business manager with the APSSD prior to July 1, 2017, shall hold a master’s degree in business, accounting, finance, economics, or a related field from an accredited institution; a standard school business administrator's certificate issued pursuant to N.J.A.C. 6A:9B-12.7, as amended or supplemented; or a certified public accountant certificate.
