Overview Of The Business Manager Role

  • Oversee and lead the budgeting, modeling, and forecasting process (operating, capital, and cash flow) in partnership with the Head of School.
  • Analyze, create, and present financial reports in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Prepares agendas and meeting materials for the Finance Committee. Attends all finance committee meetings, meetings of the Board of Trustees, and meetings of other Board committees when financial or campus facility matters are being considered.
  • Coordinate and lead the annual audit process.
  • Manage the school’s relationships with bankers and other finance professionals.
  • Manages the day-to-day operations of the Finance Department.
  • Ensure tuition billing and collection schedule is followed, financial data and cash flow are sound, and support operational and any debt service requirements.
  • Oversee the Family Individualized Tuition (FIT) program and effectively communicate it to parents. Participate on the FIT committee.
  • Lead the overall management of school operations, including the efficient development and implementation of its temporary and long-term programs.
  • Actively work to mitigate risk for the school.
  • Oversee facilities at the organization, including: buildings and grounds of multiple campuses, transportation, safety, custodial, and event support.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Preferred Qualifications For The Business Manager

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. MBA or CPA is a plus.
  • 5+ years of accounting and strategic planning experience preferred.
  • 5+ years of team leadership experience.
  • Fund accounting experience preferred.
  • Experience with a nonprofit or independent school.
  • Proficient with QuickBooks desired.

Salary: $90,000 - 110,000
