Role Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and results-driven Business Development Manager to spearhead our expansion in the plant category. The successful candidate will be responsible for identifying, engaging, and onboarding high-quality sellers, thereby enriching our marketplace with a wide range of plant products. This role demands a blend of sales acumen, category knowledge, and a passion for plants and sustainability.
Key Responsibilities:
- Cold call and engage with prospective sellers to explain the benefits of joining Palmstreet.
- Develop and execute strategies to identify and recruit high-potential sellers within the plant and gardening sector.
- Build and maintain strong, long-lasting relationships with new and existing sellers.
- Understand the unique needs and challenges of plant sellers and offer tailored solutions to enhance their success on our platform.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure a seamless onboarding experience for new sellers.
- Monitor and analyze the performance of the plant category, identifying trends and opportunities for growth.
- Set and achieve individual sales targets, revenue growth objectives, and key performance indicators for the plant category.
- Stay abreast of industry trends and competitive landscapes to continuously refine and innovate our marketplace offerings.
- Represent the company in industry events, trade shows, and networking opportunities to build brand presence and supplier relationships in the ceramics/pottery market.
- Up to 25% travel required
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Horticulture, or related field.
- 3+ years of experience in business development preferred, ideally in e-commerce or high growth startup.
- Proven track record in sales, business development, or account management, ideally within the e-commerce or plant/nursery industry.
- Strong knowledge of the plant and gardening market, including trends, key players, and customer preferences.
- Exceptional interpersonal and negotiation skills, with the ability to engage and influence sellers.
- Data-driven mindset with strong analytical skills to assess performance metrics and make informed decisions.
- Self-motivated with a results-oriented approach to achieving targets.
Compensation:
- OTE: $110k
- $50-65k/year base salary dependent on experience and location, plus commission based on sales of newly onboarded sellers, plus bonus
- Equity considered based on performance
