Department Profile

The Finance Division reports to the Chief Financial Officer and consists of some 3,000 employees worldwide. Finance protects the Morgan Stanley franchise by serving as guardian of the Firm's books and records, and by contributing to firm wide risk management and risk reduction. This division maintains relationships with Morgan Stanley's various industry and government regulators, and also serves as the conduit of financial information to the outside investment community.


Finance plays a critical role as advisor to Morgan Stanley's various businesses and its senior management team. Our employees support numerous activities such as Product Controllership, Profit & Loss (P&L) analysis, Regulatory Reporting, Digitization, Business Management, Capital Requirements and Sourcing / Vendor Management.


Our Finance teams are currently seeking to engage with New York’s leading mid-career talent. Our opportunities span across the global Finance organization, including the Finance Risk and Assurance Team. The Finance Risk agenda includes, but is not limited to, Risk & Control Self-Assessment (RCSA), Operational Risk Governance, Reporting & Metrics, Business Continuity Planning, Information Security, Supplier Risk and Fraud Risk. Team members require an understanding of operational risk concept and control frameworks, an ability to interpret relevant policies and regulations and to coordinate governance activities across the division. This dynamic position offers the candidate an exceptional opportunity to gain exposure and learn various processes across the Finance division.



You Will

  • Provide support in developing & standardizing, coordinating, communicating and testing the business continuity planning process across all functional areas under Finance.
  • Assist in deployment of new business continuity tooling, including undertaking user acceptance testing and cascade of training across functional area where required.
  • Act as a Crisis Manager providing support during response to regional and global crisis events that could impact Finance and its 4Ps (People, Processes, Premises, 3rd Parties), escalating and managing incidents in coordination with Firm stakeholders and Finance Management where necessary
  • Provide expertise and support to management and business functional areas, as requested
  • Perform ongoing risk analysis to determine which business processes, systems, and applications need to be recovered within the indicated time frame to comply with corporate and regulatory recovery time objectives of the organization
  • Assist with risk assessments and due diligence efforts pertaining to critical suppliers and 3rd party vendors
  • Develop and enhance Key Business Service model
  • Monitor and respond to Regulatory requests e.g. PRA, EBA Remediation etc.
  • Communicate and work alongside a diverse group of professional in Finance and across the Firm
  • Add value and be productive in our high energy setting


You Have


  • 4-7 years of applicable work experience
  • Worked with challenging stakeholders and/ or deadlines to deliver positive results
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, and ability to adapt to your audience
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel and Powerpoint
  • Ability to collaborate and manage relationships with multiple stakeholders of varying seniority across Finance and other divisions Motivations to be accountable and deliver positive results
  • Critical thinking in order to challenge processes, solve for ad hoc queries and creativity to suggest alternative approaches
  • An ability to analyze information and present it back within an agreed timeline
  • A strong sense of organization and time management skills
  • Worked in a high-paced environment and use multi-tasking to your advantage
  • A willingness to observe process and disrupt it in order to prioritize the team’s efficiency
  • An interest or familiarity with Financial Markets and Products
  • Previous work experience of Business Continuity Management
  • Having experience in managing or leading on projects



Expected base pay rates for the role will be between $85,000 and $135,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base pay if hired will be determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, other short and long-term incentive packages, and other Morgan Stanley sponsored benefit programs.
