Summary Objective
This position is to inspect buildings and other structures, land use, and land or building development or modification for structural conformance and conformity with zoning rules and regulations effective in the City.
This class works under general supervision, independently developing work methods and sequences.
Minimum Requirements
Requires a High School diploma or GED equivalent.
Requires five years of experience as a supervisor in building construction or experience as an engineer, architect, or any combination of the above and education that would meet the State of Florida DBPR minimum qualifications for licensure as a Building Code Inspector pursuant to Chapter 468, Florida Statutes, Part XIII, for the appropriate trade; OR the ability to obtain a provisional certification as a Building Code Inspector within the first ninety (90) days of hire and consequently obtain a Standard Building Code Inspector license within one (1) year of acquiring provisional certification.
