Digital Media Support Engineer

The Digital Media Support Engineer is responsible for the support and development of the Editing, Streaming, Graphics and Production facilities in New York. This encompasses the evaluation and build of new technology solutions, assist with, or coordinate project tasks and provide technical support for the content creation and distribution of ABCNews daily broadcasts, digital live stream, and delivery to streaming partners and VOD.
Responsibilities:
Build, maintain and support all postproduction facilities for ABCNews
Build, maintain and support NVision router control system and baseband workflows
Build, maintain and support VOD, streaming, radio, and broadcast workflows
Develop and maintain technical solutions to create efficiencies in content acquisition and distribution
Contribute to or lead system sustainment and upgrade projects
Work closely with our operation teams to develop workflow solutions for their business needs
Interface with vendors in troubleshooting efforts
Create “how to” documentation for users and peers
Create technical drawings
Basic Qualifications:
Experience working in a broadcast environment
Strong computer/networking knowledge
Strong verbal and written communication skills with both technical and non-technical people
Self-starter who works well with minimal supervision
Strong organizational skills
Ability to learn and adapt to new technology
Flexible work hours, we are a 24/7 facility with evening, weekends, and holidays work hours
Works well under pressure
Team player
Demonstrated ability to plan, develop, install, and manage a variety of systems specific to editing and graphics creation
Demonstrated ability building and maintaining virtual machines and physical servers
Preferred Qualifications:
AVID Media Composer Experience is a huge plus, but we also use Adobe (Premier, Aftereffects, etc). Even if they have Media Composer, the environment is very customized and will have a training curve for anyone.
More important than software experience is Broadcast experience, editing experience, and a trainable/moldable mindset with the ability to think critically.
Schedule: They would start Mon-Fri, 8-4p for the first few months for training, then will likely be moved to overnight and weekends - depending on level of performance. Weekends are 12-hour shifts (day 12p-12a and overnight 12a-12p). We have a two-person weekly rotation for each shift, so the candidate would be required to work a weekend shift (day or overnight) every other week.
