Broadcast Media Systems Technician

The Miami HEAT Broadcast Services department is seeking a Broadcast Media Systems Technician! The Technician has a strong understanding of Media Asset Management systems and philosophies. This person is well versed in Linux, Mac, and Windows OS which will be utilized to facilitate and support a high capacity media creation team. This position will also work collaboratively and closely with the IT Infrastructure team regarding servicing and operation of the CATDV MAM. The Broadcast Media Systems Technician is responsible for daily diagnosing and provides multiple levels of maintenance, technical support and repair to the MAM environment and it’s users.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The following are examples of the various functions required. The job requirements are not limited to the items on this list.

• Installs, programs, operates and maintains MAM environment and servers applicable to television broadcasting, broadcast-related platforms and/or file-based workflows
• Develops capabilities & procedures for monitoring, alerting, change management, shared support, and automation
• Acts as the first-line point of escalation for the IT support team, broadcast engineering team, production team, and key users.
• Uses extensive knowledge and experience to facilitate high-speed network requirements for mass networked storage.
• Supports data transport and streaming technologies like Aspera/Telestream including live streaming, and web technologies.
• Supports Broadcast related IT infrastructure including network switches, routers, KVM.
• Establishes, maintains and follows SOP for MAM environment in conjunction with creative services & IT infrastructure team.
• Possesses a deep understanding of various media/application formats and codecs to ensure proper media management and encoding/transcoding for: video, audio, images
• Assists Director of Broadcast Services with budget planning and developing of MAM environment in conjunction with IT infrastructure team.
• Works with vendors and keeps up with maintenance service contracts; obtains and schedules maintenance and instructional training of equipment and software as needed.
• Researches and evaluates new technologies and tools in the IT/Broadcast industry that can be used to enhance our production efficiencies and quality.
• Manages multiple concurrent projects and shifting priorities with strong work ethic and positive attitude.
• Uses strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills and ability to work independently.
• Must be able to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Must be available to assist, either remotely or onsite, as needed to provide a timely response to LIVE Event situations, equipment issues, etc.

Education And/or Experience

• Must have 3 years of experience in network technology and broadcast television, big data, and/or IP technology environment for production.
• BS or AS Degree in an Engineering discipline or equivalent certification and experience.
