Our client is seeking Deck Foremen to join the crew of their offshore wind installation vessel. Candidates must hold US citizenship and preferably have experience on large vessels.
Job Description
Liaise with the other vessel crew, clients and third parties to ensure that at all times rigging, slinging or maintenance works are coordinated in a safe and efficient manner.
Responsible for using relevant information and instructions to accurately identify loads to be removed.
Choose the slinging technique appropriate to the characteristics of the load and the intended lift.
Identify difficulties in slinging and moving loads and clarify them with the appropriate person(s).
In conjunction with the Deck Operators ensure that the correct slinging equipment is selected and confirm its suitability for the load(s) to be lifted.
In conjunction with the Crane Operators ensure the suitability of load(s) to be lifted and that all potential hazards with the lifting operation have been identified.
Report all defects and faults with lifting, deck and or slinging equipment, to the First Officer.
Prepare and sling loads appropriate to the slinging technique chosen.
Confirm that the support and balance of the slung load is satisfactory, and that it is secured prior to movement.
Ensure that all vessel equipment is in a condition complying with the applicable regulations.
Ensure that all client and third-party equipment meets vessel safety standards.
Cooperate and contribute to Toolbox Talks and Task Risk Assessments and ensure that these are carried out, wherever appropriate.
Assist in identifying, developing and sharing Best Practices across the vessels.
Job requirements
Must hold US citizenship
Must be willing to obtain necessary certifications to work offshore
Previous experience as a Deck Foreman/Bosun
