About Cornerstone Youth Collective (CYC):


Cornerstone Youth Collective (CYC) is dedicated to empowering marginalized youth and young adults in Seattle. Our mission is to provide essential resources and foster economic opportunities for African American, Latino, and Native American communities. We aim to offer sustainability support, empowering minorities for longterm stability and success, while uniting communities impacted by gentrification.


Position Details:

Employment Type:Volunteer

Location:Washington, Oregon & California resident highly preferred

Commitment:5-10 hours per month for a duration of two years


Position Overview:

We are seeking committed individuals to join our Board of Directors. Board members will play a crucial role in governing CYC, ensuring its compliance with legal obligations, ethical standards, and internal bylaws. They will actively participate in strategic planning, financial oversight, fundraising, and advocacy efforts.


Responsibilities:

Governance and Oversight:

Ensure compliance with legal obligations and internal bylaws.

Oversee CYC's activities and financial performance.


Strategic Planning:

Participate in the development of CYC's longterm strategy.

Monitor progress towards strategic goals and mission.


Financial Oversight:

Approve annual budgets and set financial priorities.

Monitor financial reports and ensure transparent allocation of resources.


4.Fundraising and Resource Development:

Assist in fundraising efforts and development of resources.

Leverage personal networks to support CYC's goals.


Advocacy and Ambassadorship:

Serve as an ambassador for CYC, promoting its mission, programs, and achievements.

Advocate for CYC's interests and values in the broader community.


Qualifications:


Educational Background:

Preference for candidates with a Master's degree or equivalent.

Consideration of candidates with a Bachelor's degree and substantial (5+ years) direct experience in relevant fields.


Professional Experience:

Candidates who have served in director, board, or C-level positions for over 6 years.


Community Involvement:

Preference for candidates with a history of community engagement and advocacy.


Related Experience:

Consideration of candidates with personal, indirect, or other relevant experiences.


Philosophy:

  • ClientCentered:Selecting board members who prioritize the needs and interests of CYC's clients and communities.
  • Community Involvement:Giving preference to candidates with a demonstrated history of community engagement and advocacy.

Additional Information:

  • Directors will serve a term of two years, starting with a 90day probationary period. After the term ends, an interview will be conducted for reelection. Regular virtual Board meetings shall convene monthly. Inperson Board meetings shall be held quarterly.
  • Each Board member is expected to raise at least $300 every 90 days, which equates to $100 per month, to support the financial sustainability of CYC.
