QUALIFICATIONS: 1. Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Early Childhood Education
State of Illinois Certification/License- Early Childhood
Preschool teaching or student teaching experience is preferred
REPORTS TO: Early Childhood Supervisor/Building Principal
JOB GOAL: A certified parent educator implements the PAT model, emphasizing parent-child interaction, development-centered parenting and family well-being in their work with families. Utilizing the PAT Foundational Curriculum in culturally sensitive ways, the parent educator partners, facilitates and reflects with families.

Use the PAT Foundational curriculum to share research-based information with families

Provide group connections to give families an opportunity to build social connections with each other, engage in parent-child interaction activities, and increase their knowledge of ways to support children's development
Communicating with Families
Engaging Families in Learning
Complete at least an initial and annual developmental screening and health review for each enrolled child
Demonstrating Flexibility & Responsiveness
Help parents and children transition to other services as needed, to preschool, or to kindergarten
Professional Responsibilities
Participate in continuous quality improvement
Reflecting on Learning - Participate in at least 2 hours of reflective supervision monthly and at least 2 hours of staff meetings monthly
Maintaining Accurate Records - Document personal visits focused on parent-child

Growing & Developing Professionally - Obtain competency-based professional development and renew parent educator certification annually

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Salary and work year to be established by the Board, per Teacher’s Contract.
EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with the Performance Evaluation Reform Act (PERA) and SB 7. Any conflicts within this provision and SB 7 will be superseded by Ed Reform.
