Biostatistician

Location: Atlanta, GA

Job Type: Full-time

Shift/Schedule: (Day)/8:30-5pm

Overview

  • Statistical expertise, scientific method, study design, sample size determination, data collection methods, analysis techniques, statistical analysis plans, data quality, analytic processes.
  • Provide advanced statistical expertise, guidance, and support to quality improvement (QI) researchers, scientists, faculty, and managers within Grady Health System (GHS).
  • Develop, analyze, and report healthcare quality and/or research studies.
  • Offer guidance on study design, sample size determination, data collection methods, and analysis techniques for GHS-initiated or collaborative studies.
  • Support physicians, clinical faculty, administrators, and staff by preparing statistical analysis plans and detailed analyses for reports, presentations, and publications.
  • Advise on process improvement, methods, or education to enhance data quality, analytic processes, and research-related activities within the system.

Day To Day Duties

  • Design and implement Quality Improvement (QI) analysis plans.
  • Analyze, implement, and report findings on targeted statistical QI research studies.
  • Provide consultation on experimental design and statistical research approaches.
  • Formalize analysis plans and reporting specifications for QI project teams; advise on statistical analysis strategies, model reliability, and interpretation of results.
  • Foster collaborative relationships across disciplines and serve as a subject-matter expert in advanced analytics for QI teams, committees, and collaborators.
  • Plan and document computer data file structure; develop and manage complex statistical databases; oversee data entry.
  • Utilize advanced statistical software, methods, and techniques to gather, analyze, and interpret research data.
  • Develop and program enhancements to statistical software; stay updated on current trends in statistical analysis methodology.
  • Assist in preparing documents, protocols, abstracts, manuscripts, and responses to regulatory agencies and local Institutional Review Boards.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of job-related experience.
  • Proficiency in utilizing statistical software such as R, SAS, or SPSS for data analysis and modeling.
  • Assisted in the publication of QI research findings, ensuring statistical soundness.
  • Ability to apply a range of advanced statistical techniques to support scientific research studies and/or experiments.
  • Proficient in planning, creating, programming, and managing complex statistical computer databases.
  • Capable of analyzing, interpreting, and drawing conclusions from complex statistical information.
  • Knowledgeable about current and emerging trends in advanced statistical analysis for scientific applications.

Preferred, Not Required

  • Master's Degree in Biostatistics, Statistics, or a related field.
  • Certifications in SAS, Applied Biostatistics, or R programming.
  • SQL: Structured Query Language, used for managing and manipulating relational databases, essential for extracting and analyzing data in a biostatistician role.
  • Tableau: Data visualization software, used for creating interactive and shareable dashboards and visualizations to explore and communicate data insights effectively.
  • Power BI: Business intelligence tool, used for data visualization and interactive reporting, enabling users to create insightful reports and dashboards from various data sources.
