Responsibilities

  • Oversee the design and implementation of adoptive cell therapy and neoantigen cancer vaccine studies in mice.
  • Oversee the design and implementation of T cell culture experiments with mouse and human TILS.
  • Implant tumors in mice and monitor their progression following therapy.
  • Maintain tumor cell lines for in vivo use in mice.
  • Screen small molecule inhibitors for altering T cell quality.
  • Help educate new staff for in vivo cancer vaccine experiments in mice.
  • Make detailed observations about experiments.
  • Maintain clear and accurate documentation.
  • Assist in the preparation of technical reports, summaries, and protocols.
  • Perform specialized laboratory procedures: histology techniques, flow cytometry, in vivo mouse imaging with IVIS Spectrum system, digital image processing with Spectrum software.
  • Read and understand the VRC Animal Study Protocols.
  • Perform or assist students, post-docs and PIs with a variety of technical procedures.
  • Perform injections via intravenous, subcutaneous, intraperitoneal, intradermal, and/or intramuscular route.
  • Collect and organize data for research projects by maintaining database.



Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in biology, Life Sciences, or a related discipline. Two (2) years of specialized experience in tumor mouse vaccine models and in vitro T cell expertise
  • Expertise in TIL cell culture techniques
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience working in a laboratory environment.
  • Demonstrates expertise in performing biological research.
  • Demonstrates knowledge in managing and disposing of hazardous waste.
